what to do with old Edirol DA-2496 interface

Hey guys,

Any suggestions (apart from ebay)?  There are no new drivers so it will no longer work with my computer as it has evolved (motherboard changed, 64bit OS)

Might there be a way to hack this so it works without being plugged-in to a computer?  This way at least there are two mic-preamps that can be used, or could be a line mixer of sorts

Cheers

If it has a digital out (S/PDIF), try connecting this to the digital in of your main interface.

If it requires being connected to a computer, then it may or may not be partly functional without correct drivers.  It's worth trying anyway.

Leave it in the rack just for the lights? Tell visitors it's a rare vintage SoundGooderizer module.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I have an idea - try to find a DIF-AT or DIF-AT24 on ebay, then link that to my motu (which accepts ADAT) - that expands my Motu and I can still keep my vintage SoundGooderizer module.

Anyone (in the UK) got a DIF-AT24 for sale?

flog it , don't waste ya time faffing with 2 interfaces.. unless you need to .e.g. I used to use an sw1000xg only for the midi sounds even after it was useless as an asio card.
if you have 2 cards inside the pc at the same time , you may get timing issues, with the cards going out of sync .. like I did via spdif.

Craigslist-UK. Avoid the eBay fees if you can.

I've found a DIF-AT24 - and have now successfully linked my old Edirol to my Motu.  It did require a bit of soldering - to modify the Edirol to supply 5V to the RBUS cable in order to power the DIF-AT24.  Was it worth it?  Don't know - at least I've learnt a bit more about RBUS and ADAT, and gained additional 8in/8out.

VSPlanet forums were useful to glean information (particular thanks to "bear"); and I got the schematics from Roland.
