Are there any dancing bears in that video? That would be illuminating.

Hi, I much more enjoy Jon doing his thing when he is free forming these days with Hindu musicians and such. Doing what he does for 10 seconds in a song, just seems so silly, but I guess it's ok for him to get a few extra bux. He deserves them!

I've enjoyed him too....especially with Stanley Clark. Silly Mosh? I'm sorry that I don't understand you much of the time but I'm thinking by your comments you haven't seen or heard this work.

Haven't heard this one yet. Looks interesting. That cover is almost tantalizing. I've heard the guy in the big hat and sunglasses can really play.

Dancing Bears!?!? I picture the Siegfried and Roy act with white lions (not the band) and white tigers.

Not this specific one, YET, and will check it out. but I had his earlier works with Santana, and a lot of his other work. I like his long, playful stuff, similar to some of the stuff you can see on the net with him ... playing around for fun. Nice to see him get a few appreciation notices here and there. I've always thought he deserved it.

My appreciation for McLaughlins skill is hard to credit for what he may be doing because he left such a big impression on me many years ago. We all probably have albums from the past that will always be at the top of our lists and two from his works "Shakti" blew me away. And "Electric Guitarist" ...!....just unreal. What a line-up of musicians for that. My wife was 9 months pregnant with our first child in 1978 and went with me to see him and Stanley. So yeah...see and hearing him still get it on is a treat for me.

We all probably have albums from the past that will always be at the top of our lists and two from his works "Shakti" blew me away. I distinctly remember the first time I heard McLaughlin - I bought "Best of the Mahavishnu Orchestra" blind on cassette tape based on reading about him in Guitar Player or something (I didn't know anyone who listened to that sort of thing back then). I remember putting the cassette in hitting play and my jaw dropped shortly thereafter. Side one ended so I flipped it over and hit play and listened to side 2. Then I flipped it over and listened again, then flipped it over and...
In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.
