Master not assigned

I used to get sound from my PC, but now everytime I open Cakewalk Sonar Essentials X1 I get a message that there are no audio devices for the current driver model.  It tells me to go to Options|Audio and select a different driver model.  Is this menu in Sonar?  If so, there aren't any audio devices listed.  Other programs use the system sound okay.  Can someone 'splain this to me?

Hey Mark . . . sounds like Sonar can no longer find your audio device, has it changed ? . . . is it a USB device, plugged to a different port ?
Wondering if you can hear sound through Windows media player ? Is the lack of sound only in Sonar ?
So many questions, so little information. It really would be best if you could list your soundcard / system specs to troubleshoot further.

Cakewalk by Bandlab, Cubase, RME Babyface Pro, Intel i7 3770K @3.5Ghz, Asus P8Z77-VPro/Thunderbolt, 32GB DDR3 RAM, GeForce GTX 660 Ti, 250 GB OS SSD, 2TB HDD samples, Win 10 Pro 64 bit, backed up by Macrium Reflect, Novation Impulse 61 Midi Key Controller, Tannoy Active Near Field Monitors, Guitars by Vantage, Gibson, Yamaki and Ovation.
