Applying my own .wav/.mp3 samples to Midis (SONAR X1 LE)

Hello everyone,
so I have a couple of MIDI-files that I arranged with another programm and I'd like to make them sound better by adding my own samples and soundfonts to them. When I check my MIDI output devices all I get is "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" which is checked. That one does only play the standard-microsoft-samples that of course don't sound very good. Is there any way to change this?
I'm fairly new to SONAR, by the way.

Thanks in advance,
Yaen

    Welcome to the forum!

To play your own samples triggered by MIDI you need a sampler or sample player, in which you load the samples on different keys. Then you use the sampler like any soft synth. I don't know if X1 LE comes with a sampler. If it does, the most likely candidate for you to find there is DropZone.

If you want to test with soft synths in general, I assume you have TTS-1.
At www.kvraudio.com you can find lots of soft synths, both commercial and free.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Thanks for your reply! DropZone doesn't come with my version of SONAR but your link did help me a lot. Found a sampler called Jeskola there. It's free and lets me load my samples :) The only thing that bothers me a bit is that it doesn't play all notes in the MIDIs (some are just left out) but that may just be a problem during the programm is on. Maybe it's fixed as soon as the files are exported. I'll test that.

    Thanks again,

Hm this looks decent indeed but is there a way to use one sample for the entire keyboard? (with pitching, cause that works quite well for most of my samples, acutally) Or do I have to pick each key individually changing the pitch of the notes in another programm first?
EDIT: Found the solution. Just go to the scale option and select normal.
