Input quantizing not working as expected

Hi everyone!, according to the Sonar Producer X1 help file on Input Quantizing “Input quantizing allows you to automatically quantize MIDI input during recording. You can see the results immediately, and hear the results as soon as a track is looped”. This doesn't quite happen for me. On loop I hear some of the notes I’ve played but not all of them. In order to hear the rest of the played notes I need to stop a restart playback. Then all plays fine and quantized. Any idea why this is happening? Cheers, Tim. Sonar Producer X1b build246.

Hi, im seeing the same behavior as these guys and have searched the help files and manual, does anyone know if there is something i am doing wrong or a setting that is not right?
What i would like to do is set up to loop record drum parts w input quantise on so i can for example record kick first pass, snare second and so on, and here the parts play back quantised. But am having same problem as the op. When it loops back i hear some notes but not all and its different every pass.
So i was hoping im doing something wrong as it doesnt work as expected. I tried doing this in reaper, logic, studio one 2, just to see if i was doing something wrong but it works as expected w those daws.
    thanks,
    Tommy.

Looks like a bug to me. Works fine if Input Quantizing is not enabled. Probably another side-effect of SONAR's troublesome MIDI buffering scheme. Increasing the buffer helps, but does not completely alleviate the problem. Best to just leave Input Quantizing off and play as tight at you can.

I'm pretty sure Sonar quantizes AFTER you press stop.
Never tried loop recording myself as of yet but I use input quantize a lot and the quantization always seems to get added immediately after I press stop.
This post record action is reinforced by checking the undo options. The first undo option (or last action) is ' undo quantization', the second option (or second from last action) is 'undo recording'.
I'm guessing that this is also why loop recording doesn't quantize in real time.

I always thought, too, but I checked, and it does quantize each iteration of a loop as it starts the next. But there is this problem with dropped MIDI notes that looks like a buffering issue.

Just picked up X3 Producer and discovered this issue. Apparently this is normal behavior?

    To the OP.
Why haven't you updated to X1d?

May have by now. That post is over 2 years old. IIRC, it predates X1d.

Funny. This issue came up again recently, and I didn't recall that I had already confirmed it.

I didn't even look at the date of the op. Better start looking or get a time machine to make my posts relevant.
