[Answered] X3b - insert softsynth - midi channels available
Hello, I am more than likely missing something really simple and straightforward here. I'll use TTS-1 as an example. Inserting TTS-1 from the browser, selecting all synth outputs mono only opens 9 tracks. I expected it to open all 16 available TTs-1 channels/tracks. Other synth inserts exhibit the same behavior - GPO only opens 4, but I am aware of the Garrittan defect describe in a earlier post last week. What might I be missing. Is this a function of the Firestudio Project interface? As always any assistance is greatly appreciated

The TTS-1 has 4 stereo pairs as outputs, so opening it the way you mentioned will give you 8-mono midi-audio tracks and one midi-controller track (notice the track icon is different between the first 8 tracks and the 9th track). The 16 channels you are thinking of are just that, channels. The "outputs" are where the audio is generated and routed from there. You can insert 15 more midi tracks and then assign them to the appropriate TTS-1 channels, but the "outputs" define the audio stream... you can, in fact, send all 16 channels out one stereo output.

Thanks all for this. I thought I'd seen a video where the all synth outputs generated the 16 channels. May be that memory thing my wife keeps mentioning :) Thanks again folks ! Bill -

Here is a quick video I made to walk through setting up the 16 channels on the TTS-1. When you finish doing this be sure to save the project. You can then use that as a template for other projects. http://www.ariphys.com/Videos/TTS1.mp4 Michael

Michael, The video adds much clarity to the process. I now see with the insert multiple midi channels where I was looking in the wrong place. Thank you for this very informative video ! Best Regards, Bill -
