importing mp3

Hi guys

Trying to import an MP3 backing track to an audio track on x2 using import audio. All its doing is importing like an encoded version of it. I've tried importing a .wav file and that's fine. Any ideas folks?

I've always just dragged-and-dropped the mp3 file into the track view and it automatically converts it to a wave.

Strange ... is it possible your mp3s are variable bit rate? Maybe Sonar has problems with those.
You should be able to tell by right-clicking the file, choosing Properties and then check the Details tab.

    • Go over to the Media Browser and select the [Media] Tab
    • There is a button to the left of the drop down list, if you hover over it the tooltip will display "Move up one Level"
    • Click this button until you see your C Drive (2-3 times) and then navigate to the filepath of the .mp3 file.
    • Do you have the ability to drag and drop it the .mp3 from the Media Browser into SONAR? Do you even see it? there?
