How to I send a multiple tracks to a different buss?

i.e. I want to send all the drum tracks to the DRUMS BUSS.

The way I do it is create the bus first, then highlight the tracks you want by left clicking on a track number, (hold ctrl if you are selecting several) click on "output" on one of the tracks and select "Selected track outputs" hit the drop down box, and you'll see your bus name there. Click it and all tracks that were selected will be sent to that bus.

I am tried selecting the tracks in the track view, than sending one of them to the buss I have created but only that one changes.
Can you please elaborate?

Hi Danny,

I am almost sure I have tried and it did not work.
Where do you select the tracks? on the track view or on the console view?

Thanks

If you use the ctrl key along with your selection they will all go to the same place. Its called quick group. I would place all your drum tracks in a folder. This will help.

John's method using quick group is probably better than mine. But here's a little video showing you how I do it. Hope this helps you.

I had more text in the vid captions...somehow it vanished...sorry about that. You'll get the idea though. Good luck.

When you have multiple items (already) selected, if you hold down ctrl while changing a parameter, that parameter change will effect all items.

I am pretty sure it can be done anywhere in SONAR, but is definitely worth its weight in gold when you need to reassign several things at once.

As always... Danny's video is helpful!

Thank you guys. I got it. I was doing everything right but somehow I never SAW the "Selected Track Outputs" option in the drop down menu...

Yeah I think we've had that capability since Sonar 6 if I'm not mistaken....somewhere around then. It's definitely helpful. :) Glad this helped you guys.

Great video, Danny.  That was very helpful!!

Was still a very green Sonar 8 Producer Edition user when graduating to a very green Sonar X1 Expanded user.  Now, upgraded to Sonar X3c from X2 (but never had the time to get proficient with it.)

Quick Groups is an awesome tool! Don't know how long it's been around, but after discovering it in X3, I'm making the most of it now.

I think quick groups went back to version 6, though the method of invoking them was different back then.

I do it a different way.  Select the tracks (in Track View), click on the Tracks menu and choose Selected Track Outputs.

Re: Send Multiple tracks to a new buss 2013/12/24 10:15:20 (permalink)
In addition to clicking each one while holding CTRL, you can also drag across the track numbers (if the tracks to be altered are next to each other).

So, if the console view tracks were  11 12 13 14 15 16 you could drag across 12-15 and it would also quick-group 12, 13, 14, and 15.

Either way works  - with the dragging across multiple tracks being quicker, if they are sequential.

Re: Send Multiple tracks to a new buss 2013/12/24 10:54:12 (permalink)
Here's a video on how to use Insert Send Assistant to do the same thing. I'm not sure if it's actually less clicks than Danny's demo. You still multi-select the tracks you want to add the Send on. The difference is that rather than adding the bus and then using quick groups to specify the send output you add the bus and specify the send output using the Send Assistant Dialog. The key is to hold control when you click the (+) for the adding of a new send on one of the tracks while all the tracks you want the send added to are selected.
