Plugin input weirdness

First up- I see Cakewalk can use the Steinberg Portico VST3s now. Thanks for that. Must be a pain in the butt to have to worry about multiple formats for the same plugin.

My query is really about the way Sonar handles plugins compared to other DAWs- specifically, Plugin Alliance plugins and the Porticos too. In other DAWs, to manipulate the dials you slelect the dial and pull the mouse up/down to turn the dial. And mouse wheel scroll is also accepted to turn the dials.

In Sonar the manipulation is not "linear" but rather circular (maybe I have that the wrong way round). You kind of need to select the dial and then move your curosr position to the corrosponding location on the dial to turn it to that position. I can't see any plugin/sonar options that allow for this behaviour to be altered. The mouse wheel support is available in Sonar for the plugin Alliance plugins but not the Porticos. A minor annoyance but I wonder if I am missing something obvious.

For my plugins, I just drag up and down and it works. I'm sorry you're having the bad experience.

Are there some specific plugins I might try in order to see what you're talking about?

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

    Hi gswitz.

The plugins that come with Sonar work for me as they do for you.

Specifically, it's the VSTs (vst2 and vst3) made by Plugin Alliance and Steinberg that do not work as intended. I think I can say this with confidence because they work properly in other DAWs. It's not the end of the world either- you can still turn the knobs etc- but it is clumsy.
