Plugin Manager Trouble

Ok, I have installed and registered the Focusrite Midnight compressor and it shows properly in the VST manager, so why doesn't it show in my custom list of VST plugins?  I have tried deleting it and re-adding it via the VST manager and it still will not work.  What gives?

Try re-scanning your plugins and see if that helps.

I have tried rescanning as well as reloading Sonar (which is set to rescan on startup).  I still can't make it show.

I have now found that these Focusrite plugins crash Sonar almost everytime, I wonder if this is related (I am using the all plugins layout to access the plugins since my custom layout doesn't work)

Did you add the plugin to your custom layout?

    that's a very good question.
it wont show up unless you add it to your custom layout.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.  The problem is the plugin will not show in my custom layout after I have entered it into my custom layout and saved.  I can enter it into the layout as many times as I like, it will show listed in my custom layout while in the manager and then it won't be there when I try to access it after closing the manager.

Is anyone else having trouble with plugins not showing correctly in their custom layout?

Does this plugin come 32bit or 64bit or both. If the answer is both, and you're trying to load into X3 64bit, try moving the 32 bit plug from the vst directory. Then open preferences and perform a manual rescan/reset failed plugins (not at my daw but it's something like that). I have seen what you're experiencing "If" there are two plugins of the same name but different bit structures.

I had the same problem with Waldorf Lector. Wouldn't show up no matter what I did, and believe me I tried everything. Certainly every solution offered on here. Shows up in Sonar X2, but not X3. Weirdness. Not a major problem because I can just use it in X2, but it's a bit of a workflow stopper if I am writing in X3 (which is obviously what I'd prefer to do).
