New Dimension Pro and Recognizing Old Expansion Packs

Hey all,

I just upgraded to X3c and of course got another copy of Dimension Pro 1.5, which I have been using since Sonar 8.5.  My question is, the new Dimension Pro did not seem to recognize all the Expansion Packs 1-12 I bought with the version of Dimension Pro I used in X1d - which loaded all 12 of my Expansion Packs into the library.  The new Dimension Pro only recognizes the Expansion Packs 1-3 which came with the X3 upgrade, even though I have loaded in all the other old expansion packs.

How do I get all my Expansion packs to show up in the new Dimension Pro library?

Did you try the F5 key in the Dimension Pro program browser to rebuild the program list? FWIW, there was no need to install Dimension Pro again, the program has not changed at all from X1 to X3.

Thanks scook, I have not tried that no!  Excellent, it probably exists as a plain instruction out there, but sometimes you just gotta hear it from someone who knows.  Plus yes, I figured it would be exactly the same as the old Dim Pro - but I bought a new computer and keep my software organized by serial number reference so that I am not confused later (when I forget what transpired and why), and have a confusing set of serial numbers mixed around.

Anal I know.  But thanks tremendously for the help

One possibility is if you allowed Dim pro to be installed again, you may have the program installed twice.  Once with all of your expansion packs and once with just the 1-3 that comes with X3.

Thanks dub, but no I am installing all this on a completely new machine with no old Sonar or Dim Pro installs resident.  Still having trouble with this version of Dim Pro recognizing the 1-12 Expansion Packs I previously bought.  I have copied them into every Dimension Pro/Multisamples directory I can find (and there are like 4 of them strewn around the C:/Program Files/ and C:/Program Files (x86)/ directories.  No dice.

Still only have the basic setup that came with X3 Producer - Now however I CAN go to the device window and directly load the .sfz file from these directories and get the sample file that way - but it is not nice and neat and organized as the samples are in the f5 managed directory.

The multisamples are only 1/2 the install.

There are also the programs that need to find there way into c:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs. This is what the F5 key reads to rebuild the program browser. Note: ProgramData is a hidden directory.

FWIW, depending on which version you install first 32bit or 64bit there are only two possible valid default locations for the multisamples. It would either be "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk (x86)\Dimension Pro\Multisamples" if 32bit was installed first or  "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples" if 64bit was installed first.

You may be able to verify which location is used by looking in the registry for the "Multisamples Folder" in
    32bit version
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\dp

    64bit version
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\dp

    Thanks scook!

I found the registry and indeed it is as it should be for a 64bit, C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Multisamples.  I found that the installers for the older packages looked to place the multisamples and programs in the (x86) version of the directory set.  Will try and move those now to the 64bit directory.
