[Answered] Track color question

I am very happy with X3c.
Like X3b though, there are some tracks that when I record on them, I have to change the color of what I have recorded to go along with the other clips on the track.  Even if I select the entire track and select the background and foreground color, which works for all the current clips on the track -- when I go to record a new clip on the track, I have to set the colors again for the newly recorded clip.
QUESTION: Is there some way that I can make it so current clips and clips that are about to be recorded on a track permanently have the background and foreground color?
THANKS in advance.

I uninstalled X2 so I can't see what it was like (but I'm thinking of re-installing X2 and X3 because I need to compare something) but if X2 had "MIDI Tracks Background" color options in Preferences, I'm sorry they have been removed in X3.

Not sure if this will help, but I have found that when I set the colour for the TRACK, then all current and subsequent clips observe that colour-scheme, EXCEPT for any colour changes made at the CLIP level.  Those clips seem to retain their customised colours.

I must admit I have not particular attention to this because so far it seems to be doing what I want and expect, but I'm pretty sure it's happening the way I just described.

Is there a way to set the color for the track that is different than setting the color for the clip?  I have tried selecting the entire track and setting the colors, but as soon as I record another clip on that track, that new clip does not follow that color scheme.
I assume this is something that I am doing wrong, since no one else seems to have this issue.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I noticed it when I upgraded to X3, someone else did, too. I think it's just that many users don't have the need to give different background colors to different MIDI tracks. In my case, I just need to give different background colors to different groups of linked clips on the track.

When making color changes all clip color changes are going to be unique and are not adopted by the track or other clips. Track color changes will change all current clips waveform unless already edited manually using the clip color and set all newly recorded clips waveform colors to match. To change the track color use the color bar on the left of the track strip in the Track view or the bottom of a strip in the Console view.

This link will go over many color changing options including setting default colors as well:
