I'm going to go with, "probably not appropriate even for the coffeehouse."  Insinuates that all Muslims are car-bombers.  Its kind of, "stereotyping of a particular group of people."  I'm not offended or anything, but I don't see how it helps the world to be a better place.

The best thing we can do, with our time here, is to try and make the world a better place.

I would have titled it islamic radicals meet blah blah... but I didn't make it. I think it is funny though. I can't change the world but I can get an occasional laugh out of it.

I thought it was funny. I'd like to think most of us are educated enough to realize the vast majority of our Islamic friends do not condone terrorists.
There is a certain degree of satisfaction in seeing this guy get his just desserts.

And, is that an actual commercial?
It is funny, though.

It's funny.  It's not TOS friendly.  But really, can you think of ANY other cultural/religious/political type that will currently blow themselves up with the car?  Hard to call it a stereotype when they're the only ones doing it.

The funny part, to me, is that it speaks to me about the fact that many of my friends who own recent versions of fau vays have had problems with their electric windows.

If the guy had been driving a toyo he could have least let the windows down so everyone could hear the bass response.

Is that really a commercial or a fake? Surely one of the most politically incorrect ones I've seen in a long time.
But I have to admit, that's one edgy joke.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I don't know if it is real or not but would assume it is real. It looks like good German humor to me!

It reminds me of Richard Pryor's skit about white guys and snakes. That didn't offend me, it was funny. If we don't know who and what is around us we do ourself a disservice. This joke may show a little prejudice but prejudice helps keep us alive.

Anyone who cannot take a joke about themself, their heritage, or anything else.. is taking themself too seriously... and is potentially dangerous, IMO.
I do think a joke ceases to be a joke when it makes fun of someone personally for some fault or weakness. That is not the case here.

I don't know... maybe it just me. I just can't seem to get into the whole politically correct thing I think it does more harm than good.

In my opinion, it's hilarious.

The sad thing nowadays is that everyone and his brother feel they have the right to "not to be offended".

I'm not advocating a 'free for all' by any means, but when I constantly hear the mantra that "free speech comes with responsibilities", I'm afraid I fear that before too long, it will no longer be "free" speech at all. Don't misunderstand me, I'm against racism and discrimination as much as the next guy, when it's genuine - but all too often, it's some ridiculous trumped up exception someone or some body takes to the most innocuous of statements or actions.

And the really insidious thing, especially in this country, is that the line between "causing offence" and "blasphemy" is becoming increasingly blurred. And the powers-that-be either disagree with this point of view, or more likely just sweep it under the carpet.

Don't start Mike... don't troll me. Since you chose to ask... "what ever that means". That was a joke too (and I think you are smart enough to know it). It is dry humor... or at least an attempt at it.

I am a big fan of Germany but I shouldn't and don't have to explain that. What I said about German humor was my humor. If you don't think it is funny, don't laugh.

BTW, thanks for clearing up the question about the commercial being real or not. I didn't look at the link but suppose that is what it asserts. Now if we can get something to validate what snopes says... .

Well spoken, Steve.  Real ad or not, it's funny.  Politcal correctness is worthless if it isn't sincere.  All I can add is "lighten-up people, it's only a joke."

"Political correctness is worthless if it isn't sincere."

I disagree. The modeling of empathy to the sensitivities of others doesn't have to be sincere to have tangible and lasting benefits throughout society and culture.

One doesn't need to understand why others may be offended to make the choice to avoid the opportunity to do so.

best regards,
mike

Look hard enough at anything and you can find a reason to be offended.

Hi,

There are some things that are better German ... but I'm not sure that politics is gonna help anyone get things together.

The best record label - and most experimental -- ECM
The only and best Krautrock -- Can, Amon Duul 2, Faust, Guru Guru
The best electronics -- Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream
...
and some other examples, of note:

-- I miss my VW type 2 Bus and its Porsche engine
-- I don't miss the Wagner music a lot
-- I love the theater sets in Beyruth, and some of those pictures all the way back 80 years are awesome
-- And I'm damn glad I don't have to see another revival in Broadway for yet another washed out musical!
-- I don't miss German Philosophers a whole lot, but at least one writer is really good, or the translations are magnificently great! Goethe

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

... Not a fan of Kraftwerk, eh?

Actually not. When they became famous, they lost it for me. The music stopped being trippy and it was strictly about the sequencer and repeating it all again! Their early stuff, is way better, as are the solo albums around those guys which are vastly superior.

In many ways, it thought that when they became famous it brought it all down from experimental to pop music, and the main reason why I got into progressive and art music, was to get away from the pop music crap and simplistic -- most of it lazy -- music!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!
