RME UFX and FF800 keep getting device connected messages in SONAR
I keep getting these messages asking me if I want to connect the device. SONAR comes up with the UFX fine and then out of the blue these connect questions come up. Is that a SONAR or RME issue? Been getting them forever in the X series of SONAR...

I get them with my FF 400. I just check no in the window when it asks if I want Sonar to reconnect. It doesn't really disconnect, so I just ignore the message.

RME has released new drivers since Win 8.1 and new versions of DigiCheck. Make sure you're on the latest.

As of today, the latest driver for FF 800 and windows is version 3.078 which was issued in August. I may possibly get this message because I have my FF set at 64 samples, but it creates no problems with CW.

Installed the "c" patch today. No issues running X3c x32 or X3c x64; this is on my StudioCat Win7x64. You're running Win 8.1 or Win 7? And I guess I'm confused, you have a UFX and a FF800? Tom

Based on @LeadFoot's message, it makes me think to mention Power Options... You usually want to set your PC on high performance power setting. Under the advanced link for the high performance setting, find USB > USB Selective Suspend Setting > ensure it is set to DISABLED. I recognize that you probably have this done already. I'm mentioning it just in case.

thanks guys, affirmative on the power stuff. I have a USB3 port for my UFX. The only other USB device is a keyboard/mouse setup. There are 3 USB controllers on this Board. The issue is not that the unit doesn't function. It works quite well. This never happens during playback, only when I have the transport stopped. Just out of the blue, I get it. It is more of an annoyance than anything. Along with the disconnected/connected message, I occasionally see an error when pressing play that the audio could not be rendered too. It does it twice each time. I have no idea why that comes up, but it goes away after acknowledging each error message and playback starts. Just thought I would mention that.

When I first installed the UFX I was advised NOT to use a usb3 port. IIRC the updated drivers allow the use of the usb3 port. I was also advised to check in device manager to see that ONLY the UFX was on that USB channel. This all came from Jim at StudioCat. Flawless operation so far with all Sonar X series 1 2 and 3 (fingers crossed!).

As far as the operation goes, no issues in performance whatsoever. This thing is rock solid on playback with no burps at all. The only issues I have are the driver/unit disconnect and audio rendering outside of playback/recording which seem to be unique to SONAR. I have never gotten any type of device error indication in Vegas, SF or other hosts.

I'm using a UFX via USB, and I used a FF800 before that. I get that message all the time. I haven't rigorously tested it to be sure, but it seems to happen when bit depth or sample frequency change. That is, if I'm working on a project in 96/24 and switch to 48/24 or 44.1/16, there's a pause, some clicks, and often the message appears. I'm using the latest drivers and firmware.

I have a UFX running via USB and used to get that message back during Sonar X2 & X2a along with the early versions of the UFX driver (I purchased it when it first came out). For me, it usually had to do with playing back / opening a project that was at a different bit depth or sample rate than my existing UFX driver settings were configured for. It went away once i installed X2c patches & newer UFX drivers. Have you checked to ensure your bit depth / sample rate settings match within the RME driver & Sonar? Russ
