Words of Confusion, Please take a listen

I just finished up the master of Words of Confusion.

https://soundcloud.com/or...and/words-of-confusion

Its song from a band Orion that I was in years ago.  Please take a listen. It was always one of my favorites that the band played.
Thanks
Kevin

Kevin, this is a song that reminds me of the early days of FM radio.  The mix is very good, as are the performances.   Of course, back in the day, all songs were l o n g.  Well, we had to get our solos in, right?  Nice job on this one.  Very nostalgic.

All the best,
Lynn

Smooth, and yet epic.  Love the retro vibe.  Goes well with lava lamps. :)

Nice job Kevin. It's definitely got that 70's thing going. :) Sounds good!

Really nice song.  Like others have said, very 70's.  The cymbals are a little phasey or washed sounding especially in the beginning.  The song is excellent!!!

Kevin, Nice song! Has a kind of Santana vibe to it. I think you could bring up the bongos/congas up a bit in the mix for a better sound, they are a bit shy in the mix. Everything else is spot on. Nice instrumentation and texture choices for this. Nice performance.

This is just a post of the original song right? Or am I missing that it is a remix?

Lynn, Waltenstein, Leadfoot, Shawn, Ralph, John and Bapu:

Thanks for listening to the song.  I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to this post sooner but I'm been remodeling the studio and building a new DAW.  Thanks for all of your comments they are greatly appreciated.  As for your questions,

1.  Yes it was recorded at Bayshore Studios in Coconut Grove Florida in the late '70's
2.  This was a band I played guitar with but I joined about a year or so after these recordings were made.
3.  The mix was done by Eric Schilling.

4.  Others involved in the project were  Clive Davis and Steve Friedman (Orion Motion Pictures).  The band credits are on the Soundcloud page.

5. Since we don't have the masters anymore, I used cassette copies (2nd and 3rd gen) to start with.  I did the restoration and mastering.  There's still a little tape warble but I figure when all of the songs are restored, I'll get Capstan and fix all of the tape warble at once.

I appreciate all the comparisons to Santana and Ambrosia as I like both. Oh and Shawn, your comment "Epic" was exactly what the band was going for.

Sorry I took so long to respond!  Thanks for listening and thanks again for the comments.

Kevin
