Replacement WIRELESS Controller for the Tranzport?

I've looked around and haven't come across anything that would replace the wireless Frontier Tranzport controller (other than possibly the controller app for an iPad).

Is there anything, wireless, that will do what the Tranzport does?  My Tranzport has gotten flakey and the last couple of times I've done recording sessions I had problems of one sort or the other with the Tranzport.  I can get it working again by a complete uninstall and reinstall but its been "rock solid" for a long time so I don't think its a PC problem.  One time I tried to use it and it was working but the Record light would never come on.  Yesterday I tried to use it and it locked on to one track and I was unable to scroll to other tracks.

    Nuttin' AFAIK.

Every time I turn mine on it's with fingers crossed. Every time it doesn't light up there's a moment of panic while I run for fresh batteries. It will be a sad day indeed when it refuses to function for good.

They are still available on eBay, but the prices have been rising. Last I checked they were going for between $60 and $150.

maybe a laptop connected via VNC virtual desktop? the ipad apps are great btw. I if you have neither a laptop or ipad. then its a real investment.

however there is this. .Numark Orbit Wireless MIDI Performance Controller
not in the same league as the trazport but you could map the contols with ACT I assume (hopefully)

I have been looking at V Control Pro for the iPad.  I don't really want to use my iPad, as its relatively large, but I need something to replace the Tranzport if it ultimately goes "belly up".  Buying a used Tranzport is iffy since they are old and discontinued and potentially could wind up the same way as the one I have now.

There is no foot switch (to punch in recording) with the iPad application.

Update.  I tried the V Control Pro, free version, and it works somewhat but no where near what the Tranzport does.  More a "gimmick" than anything (at least the free version).  I got it to play and stop but could not get the audio meters to work.  I had to delete my BCF2000 control surface for it to work, too as it had to be set up as a Mackie control surface (what the BCF2000 is set for).

Its not enough for me to pay $50 for the full version.

Ever look at the Faderport from Presonus? I've no experience with it, but it looks like it has most of the Tranzport's functionality (including a footswitch jack) and is reasonably priced at $129. The only feature I see that's missing is it's wired rather than wireless, reducing the useful distance from your computer and making it clumsy to move around.

Yeah, I looked at the Presonus unit but I'm not a Presonus fan.  I've got a wired control surface in the Behringer BCF2000 so I don't need another wired unit.

You could look into TouchDaw if you have Android Pad or Phone...

I tried the V Control Pro, which is supposed to be the best, but it was not what I wanted and didn't do much in Sonar.  In addition, installing the "Ney-Fy" control program and its associated MIDI devices caused my iLok to not function (I got a message that it couldn't be enabled on multiple PC's at the same time).  Uninstalling the Ney-Fy and the associated MIDI devices it installed fixed the iLok problem.

    I don't have Android.

Talking to my sales rep at Sweetwater he advises there is no wireless devices available since Frontier went out of business.

Frontier's still in business, but they're all about iOS these days.

    Check this out: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-Wireless-Transmitter-Receiver/dp/B0036VNZHA

Maybe I'm mis-reading, but it sounds as though it can allow any USB device to be wireless.

I'd be leery of that unit, especially for something such as a control surface.

Plus, I'm not going to spend $190 to see if it would work.
