Motherboards ???

Decided to go with a i7-4770K processor

So for those of you who are using that processor what motherboards do you have? Happy with them? Regrets?

There are just so many to choose from.

I will be using a separate video card (passive cooled)
Would like to stay away from boards with fans on the chip sets: noise and they usually go bad anyway, but still not totally opposed if its a great board (I have been considering the ASUS Sabertooth) If it was not for the dam chip set fan most likely would have had it already.

ASUS has always been pretty much my go-to board.

So basically want to toss it out there and see what other people are using since the machine will be geared towards Sonar.

thanks for the input!
John

Fans are pretty basic for just about everything. I have a graphics card that has a fan but that makes no noise (according to me) enough to be a concern. If I use the fan of the computer on Full and did not have Smart Fan in the BIOS then yes, the fan would be too noisy, but with Smart Fan, it all runs just fine even playing computer games and I don't even hear the computer (at least in my opinion). Depends on what you get but nowadays about anything is possible in a computer.

I have two recent builds (in last year).  One (my main system) is a Gigabyte Z77 motherboard and the other is an ASUS Z77 motherboard.  Neither have any fans on the motherboard.  On my Gigabyte system that I use for recording, I'm using a Corsair H80 liquid cooler with two aftermarket "quiet" fans.  The rest of the fans are stock in the Coolermaster case and on the Radeon HD7700 video card.  I have the fans set in the BIOS for "quiet" operation.  I can hear a slight amount of fan noise, but I can record a vocal track about 4 feet away with a studio condenser mic and not pick up anything or recording acoustic guitar with an SM57 or 58 pointed at the PC tower from 3 ft away and not pickup anything.
