It's been a while.
Hey there fellow Cakewalkers!!!! I used to post on this forum all the time a few years ago. Then I took a long hiatus from music. Now I'm starting to write and record new songs and I want to share them with you. I recognize a lot of people here that I used to talk to and comment on their songs and they would comment on mine. It's been a while. Is Robby still here? I am one of the Missing People. Lol. I've posted my music on many of the familiar music hosting sites like: Soundclick, Reverbnation, Soundcloud, BandPage and Facebook. I'm actually going by a moniker or a group name. My project is called Dedicated Light. In my signature are links to all of the sites. Please feel free to listen and enjoy!!! I have already posted most of these songs here. I believe this one, "Devil's Game" was never posted; http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12559400 Have a listen and enjoy!!!! It's nice to be back!!! :-)

Lol. I should warn you that the harmonies on "Devil's Game" are a little whacked out and out of tune. I've been meaning to fix that.

Well, I've not heard your songs before, but I enjoyed them. They have an "organic" quality to them, like some of the Stones acoustic works. Since you already mentioned the vocals, I won't bring that up, but I think it shouldn't take long. Overall, the productions are clear, spread out, and tight. One could quibble about the drum sounds, but the beats are there. Good job on both songs.

Ralph, I love your tune! It's the kind I dig. Has a nice 70s groove going to me (which I love) Thanks for your nice comments on my sons performance too. I picked him up today and we went and saw the new Thor movie, I recommend it very highly, great action flick. Nice guitar work on your tune.
Sittin downtown in a railway station one toke over the line.

Hey Lynn, Thanks for the compliments and yes, you're right, the drums on most of the songs should be improved. Many of them just have the same beat going through the whole song. I've been using the Session Drummer software that came with my Home Studio XL. I think it's time to invest in some good drum software and work harder on the overall sound of the drums. Thank you! Robby, It's nice to talk to you again. I'm glad things are going well with you and your Son!!! I'm a child of the 70's too and I love that sound. I'm glad to be back here. :-) I'll have to check out Thor, he was the original "God Of Thunder". Lol

It's really nice to be back listening to all the great music here!!! This is one of the best most creative songs forums on the internet. I figured I'd say what's up one more time before I fell off the cliff. Lol Give my song "Devil's Game" a listen. It still needs work (Harmonies/Drums) but I think it's a good start. My friend Ron played the lead guitar on this. Thanks!!!

I like it a lot Don. As you said, the drums could use a bit more attention with some fills or alternative patterns. The drums also could use a bit more reverb I think. The rest of the parts seem a lot wetter. Devil's Game reminds me a bit of Tom Petty for some reason. Don't Lie To Me is quite different. I think the sparseness of the song makes the vocals stand out a bit more and thus I am noticing some pitch issues are starting to get in the way here and there. Maybe some pitch correction software, or a re-take or two? Or possibly add a harmony to the sections where it needs more support. Regardless, I still like the song, and it sounds great overall.

Cool, thanks for the listen Walt!! It's funny, I've gotten the Tom Petty comparison before and it's always nice because I like Tom petty a lot. So thanks!! You're right about the drums too. There's something about working with drum software and midi patterns that is so tedious to me. But to just put one beat through the whole song well it's just plain laziness on my part. Lol. I need to work on drums more. You're absolutely right about the vocals on Don't Lie To Me, I'm not the greatest singer and I usually cover that up with reverb, delay or some other effect. I've never used pitch correction before although I've been wanting to get Auto-Tune. But I like the harmony idea better!! Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and comment!!! Have a great day!!!

Thanks for listening guys!! John, I am finally having fun with music again!! I'm glad you liked Second Chance, it's a very personal song to me. Sometimes it's hard to sing those words. I was listening to your tunes on Soundclick. I like them very much!! I'll be listening to more of them as time permits. Bapu, Thank you and will do on the vox!!! I used to post at the Cake forums all the time, you're an old-timer here, I remember commenting on your songs. I think, but my memory is a bit foggy from those days. Lol. I plan on doing a lot of work on "Devil's Game". The drums, the harmonies, the lead vocals all need work. I'm gonna re-post it when I'm finished. I checked out your Souncloud page. "Day Tripper"? Very nicely done!!! I have a lot of catching up and listening to do.
