The now time marker and now time vertical line run together during playback and recording
I have a feeling that I`ve done some changes but cannot recall what I did to get this behavior :-)) Usually the now time marker stays put and the now time vertical line snaps back to the marker when you stop playback . Here is a video of my problem : http://www.screencast.com/t/XSyBOPMHm Damn , this drives me nuts :-)) Please help . All the best Jan

Its always run together on my machine. You are talking about the green inverted triangle and the now time line, right? Perhaps you are mistaking the Aim Assist as the now time?

The video helps. I can't say I have seen that behavior before. Maybe I have and just don't remember. For me the Now Time line and the Now time marker are attached.

From the reference guide : The Now time marker In the Track view, the Now time appears as a solid vertical line that followsplayback. When you set the Now time in the Track view, the Now time marker appears in the Time Ruler. This marker represents the point at which the Now time will snap back to after you stop playback or recording. So according to this the Now Time Marker and Now Time should not be attached . For me everything ran as normal untill this morning . All the best Jan

Ah, I see. Where the Now time ends up is working correctly, but the marker is following the Now time cursor during playback. Looks like an X3C issue. I hadn't noticed, but my desktop DAW is doing this, too. X3b on my laptop is working normally.

Exactly , brundlefly :-) My eye caught this while I was playing true a project this morning . Thank You for confirming my issue . I wonder if this behavior is intended . All the best Jan Sonar X3 c

- I've seen this happen before on Bootcamp'd Macs.
- It's possible there is something going on with your graphics. Do you have any custom settings on your computer. Things like running Windows 7 in "classic" mode has effected the Now Time Marker before.
- Can you try rebooting? (I know this sounds dumb, but it has fixed things like this before)
- Lastly, within Track View go to Options and make sure "On Stop, Rewind to Now Time Marker" is unchecked.
Let's see if any of this helps. -DG

Hi Dan, Thanks for chiming in. Based on earlier issues with the Now Cursor disappearing, I have Win 7 Home Premium Visual Effect set to Adjust for Best Performance, which enables all effects. I tried other settings but it had no effect. I also unloaded all my custom keybindings as this has had a bearing on other issues with the behavior of the Now Marker, but this also had no effect. For reference, I'm running the most recent driver for my nVidia card (astually still nVidia 8600GT as I have not gotten around to installing the GT630 mentioned in my signature). I could try rolling back the driver to an earlier release if you think that might have a bearing. EDIT: To answer your other questions, reboot had no effect, and it happens regardless of the setting of On Stop Rewind to Now. The Now Cursor behavior honors this setting, but the Now Marker travels with it when the tranposrt is running in both cases.

X1 and X2 also behaving normally here, and the marker in the PRV behaves normally in X3c.

I don't think it's project-related, Dan. A project created from the default Normal template will do it here. If you can't reproduce it, I think it must be platform- or configuration-related.

Dan, On your current system did you have a previous version of Sonar installed (X1 or X2) and import the previous settings?
