Lady At The Well

Here is a Christian Blues/ Rock number that I just finished tracking and mixing.  I have had this lick around for a while and as per usual, was stuck on finishing the lyrics.  Let me know if this mix sounds balanced.

To answer your questions here as well.  Yes, the first amp tone is from the Amplitube Orange collection.  That tone inspired the song.  The bass is using the Orange Bass head, I believe it is an AD200.  The second guitar that enters is using S-Gear.  I believe it predates the Wayfarer addition to S-Gear.

Mike I like this. Your take on Christian rock is unique.
 
Just a note: the mix sounds a bit mid heavy to me... has a hollow sound to it.
The drums are kicking it. And I could not, for the life of me, understand the lyrics in the  chorus... I could barely hear them at all....
 
Minor fixes IMHO.

I have gone back and forth with the drums, some times I like them hot as is, some times I have toned them down.  I think hot kind of fits this song, but they may be a touch to hot still.  I will probably experiment some more with the drum levels.  I guess I wish you put more explanation into what you didn't like about the chorus vocals.  I don't claim to be a singer, never had any aspirations to be one, and never have really liked my own voice.  I've just tried to learn to be one out of necessity.  I think I am getting a little better though, I don't cringe quite as much every time I hear myself.  I have heard that it is common for one not to particularly be comfortable with your own voice.

Thanks for listening bro.  I am unique in the genre.  Every time I post over at the CSN site I get those type of comments as well.  "This fits exactly what we have come to expect from you."  I guess, I just can't do much of the "all fluffy white clouds and soft furry bunny", type Christian songs.  I see this life as being to much of a struggle with real world issues.  
 
I will play with reducing some mids a little and see if it cleans anything up.  The main guitar tone is a preset on one of the Amplitube Orange amps.  When I first played it, it had that old school reverby blues like tone to the preset.  The song came about because of the tone and I have kind of used that to guide me through the other sounds on the track.  The vocals have some delay and reverb to them to get a similar feel.  That could be the "hollow" sound you are hearing.  Guitars and vocals are not very dry and up front in the mix.  
 
I will post the lyrics for you up in the original post so that you can make out the chorus.  Let me know if that helps.  Maybe I need to try to re-sing them in hopes of making them clearer.  If I do, I am going to take a break for this one for a while first.
 
@ Walt,  Thanks for listening!  Yes, Saved Me has turned into one of my personal favorites.  Invisible is also one of my favorites.  Chris Ivey, above, actually remixed that version that is on my Sound Cloud and I really like what Dude did with that song.  I have thought about adding a B3 to this song, even though I can barely play keys.  I have not, as of yet, because I kind of like the stripped down 4 piece band version of this as well.

Well done Michael.

Really well composed song, musically and lyrically. Nice groove to it, with some nice hooks. Really like the guitars and your vocals, and the percussion is really good, too. Everything just fit so well together, quite impressively.  It was hard to make out the words of the chorus though, as others have mentioned. Anything you could do with that would just make the recording and message stronger.
