Reversing reverb??
My vst cello sounds as if there is too much reverb on it even though it doesn't have any reverb. I tried double&triple EQ and I don't think it can be done with just EQ. I want to make it sound less fuzzy and brighter. Does anybody have a recommendation:(?

I use eastwest symphonic orchestra and it does come with chorus&reverb for each instruments but I prefer reverbs&chorus that come with Kontakt. but cello sounds too fuzzy for my piece even without any initial/added reverb and chorus..:(

You can try the trial of this: http://spl.info/index.php?id=463&L=1 I have heard of people having some success with comb filters as well, but can't say I have actually witnessed it.

I was thinking expander not compressor.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

the SPL plugin is just a cut-down version of Transient Designer, which will remove all sustain, not just reverb. There is a plugin which will remove reverb, though, called Unveil from Zynaptiq. It does a pretty good job, and the demo is actually pretty free of restrictions, as I remember. Kind of tricky to set up though. Kind of surprising if you can't get a dry sound from a popular sampler like that, though, isn't it?

You could try an exciter, maybe something along the lines of BBE Sonic Maximizer, there are others as well. Sounds as if you're describing the cello's as if their muffled - this would help. (You'd add a bit of process, while leaving the lo contour alone..)

I'd like to hear an example of this "fuzzy" cello. Any chance you can post it up somewhere? Which version of EWQLSO are you running?

If you're going for a dry studio sound that you can tweak a lot, EastWest isn't really made for that. The instruments are recorded in an actual hall with natural reverb.

Depends EWQLSO Platinum has 3 mic positions, including close mics, so you can switch the Room & Surround off if you want

Yeah, I always wondered if the close micing would completely eliminate reflections. I have gold. I guess I shouldn't assume he has gold or silver.

Maybe the title of the thread should be changed to "Removing reverb". Reversing reverb is something entirely different from what the OP is trying to do.

Right. Well I think what we need to know is EXACTLY what you were using to generate those 2 notes. I wouldn't say the first one is "fuzzy", to me it just sounds like it was recorded from a distance of about 20 feet. It's a room sound. The second one is close mic'ed, up close & personal. So what patches from what vsti have you been using. You said EWQLSO, but there are several versions You'll never get there by processing - this has to be captured at source, in my opinion.
