Favor please...

It's my first project in a few years and I've listened
to it so much I just can't tell if it's worth finishing or
I should start on something else.

It's not mixed...it's just as sounds as I'm recording parts but
ya should be able to tell if it's happening or not.

I stopped it because it's time to take a few rides and get out so
all the "head" is there.

Thanks up front...I know you'll be honest but please don't pull
any punches and if there are volume/mix issues I'll listen because
I do have it mixed enough to be content jamming with it to write
parts.

I think it sounds great even on my new lap top.

When it slows down it seems a bit awkward. When it speeds back up it seems kinda genius.

Are you thinking of playing some more guitar on top of it? In some places I hear a staccato line in my head. Other places it already sounds finished.

I like the movement of the melody.

best regards,
mike

Sounds great to me! I think you should bring the rhythm and background more to the front for contrast. I really want to hear the final cut of this!

Thanks guys...
Mike it's just the "head" ...trying to decide if it's worth trying to finish. If so, yes there will
more guitar- as I mentioned- time to ride and head out.

Bill those backing guitar parts are bad sloppy and there so I could hope to hear if the parts
were working together as hoped. So far they seem to be working together so I'll need to redo
them...and bring 'em up...thank you.

Space,

I would do up your song but why not try using the old Ventures tone like on Pipeline for the melody?  Then maybe break into the distortion lead after?  The melody lends itself to that kind of treatment and the backing tracks would support it nicely.  Just a thought.

I especially enjoy the on the edge sounds of those old reverb effects more so than the newer everything under control tones that seem popular these days.

Well I'm kicking around ideas so appreciate the input.
I guess I'll try to finish what I started...kinda burned on it but
if I quit it I know I won't go back.

I brought up those bad backing guitar parts and fixed some
bad Omnisphere notes and tried to clean the bass part.
Also let it play out so others could jam with it should they want.

Thanks guys.

So, you mean like, maybe I could maybe play staccato notes over it for personal pleasure?

I may start writing (with lyrics) with my old partner...not sure I want to dedicate the time yet.

Mike I just put a lead ending on it so, yes.....it's a 44/16 wav and it's now ready for anybody that
wants to put whatever they want in the middle. (If so...you're free to use as you want) At 01:44 there's 4 bars to let groove set-in and then start your part.

I'm uploading it as I type.
I'll finish this version before I Venture off to whatever.

Sounds good so far Spacey. Seemed longer than it actually was if that makes any sense, but more than enough there to make me look forward to hearing the finished version. Did you use stylus for the drums ? I don't have that, but the other Spectrasonics stuff I have is so good I sometimes think I should get it.

You're welcome Mike. Share what you did.

Thanks Paulo. LOL, it does seem long to me too. I'm not getting along with it...
one of those that I can't seem to get what I'm after so guess I don't have a clear idea and
wind up jamming more than anything waiting for something to happen.

I used EZdrummer but I also used Stylus for bongos, tambourine and had
to add some cowbell :)
Stylus is a great program. You won't regret getting it...not with your creativity. It has crazy
editing and can do much more than what I do with it.

Man Myolpal....thank you.

This is the last one I'll upload for those that want to jam with it.
I added what I think to be a Wishbone Ash flavor to the lead intro
and a slide guitar part before the jamming along sections.
Glad some joined the ride and hope it has been fun.
Appreciated the kudos and suggestions everyone.

This latest mix sound pretty polished.

The guitar tones are livelier. They seem really well chosen to make an effective arrangement. Each one has a voice that is easy to discern. The backing guitars stab up at interesting places. Plus the melody of the song seems more interesting than anything I've heard from Beck or Johnson. ;-).

Real nice.
