X3 Tutorial videos??
Good Morning Guys! A trivial little question here, I have a huge learning curve to work through, and I have found a good part of cakewalk's tutorial videos quite helpful. Is there an accessible source, without continually spending more money, that one may be able to access worthy teaching videos for sonar X3. Those that I have found, although their description is X3 videos, are mostly about how to uses parts of the product that are only available in X3 Studio or Producer. Is there a site or a way to weed through the tutorials that focus on software that I don't have, so I may learn a bit about the product I do have (Sonar X3c)? Granted Studio and Producer are probably wonderful products, I would be so grateful to just begin to learn how to easily do maybe some basic recording with my X3. Thanks!! Here again, you guys are great!! Most of my answers come from just rummaging through your forums reading your wonderful advice and tips. But a set of videos dedicated to just X3 would be a godsend. Thanks again so much for your time!

The groove 3 video will only run you about $15 and covers all the basics and some intermediate aspects. Plenty have learned Sonar without those videos but they are a good start. In addition to the videos on the main cakewalk site, their youtube channel has lots of x1 and x2 videos that still apply to x3. The webinars with seth and brandon were very informative. Searching youtube will also bring up a number of users who have made their own tutorial videos. The sonar power series is excellant but the x3 specific one I'd not out yet. Last but not least, the blog has helpful info. Oh yeah, both craig and karl have great instructional videos in the cake store that are reasonably priced. Both are focused on x1 and 2 but still applicable. Karl's x3 video is more focused on new features. If you are a beginner I would probably go with the groove3 one. They have sample video on their site of a lesson or two that should helpyou decide

Good morning! As far as the "learning curve," a big portion of X3 is understanding the GUI, views, buttons, etc. The Reference Guide is a best "first" source for a new user, since it has chapters dedicated to tutorials. This thread has a lot of things discussed for new users. As far as "videos"... in the interest of "time" it may be more useful for you to play with the tutorials, then think of "what I want to do" and go from there. At that point you can better target topics for videos, references, or even in the forum. IMO, videos can be time consuming, and unless you are actually touching/doing things with X3, you may end up remembering you "saw it somewhere" but then have to find it again.
ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

Mettelus brings up a good point. When I use videos, I tend to do it with program open whole watching on second device loke a tablet or smartphone so I can follow along , pausing as needed. Trying to remember everything loses a lot by the time you get to program. If you don't have a second device to watch videos, burn to dvd

Hi there. My X2 video produced by SWA, is available from the Cake store or SWA. It is a very comprehensivedetailed nine hour video that covers just about everything in X2. Most of that is applicable to X3 but any variations are covered in the X3 update video, which is again available via the Cake store or SWA. They are all based on the Producer version but of course much of the material is applicable to all versions. HTH

Thanks so much guys! I do always have the program up and running in order to pause and perform functions discussed in videos. Any other approach would be way too taxing on my Ginkgo Biloba supply. I'm a hands on type, but barreling through X3 can be treacherous if not profusely time consuming and the frustration factor is a bit extreme. I've considered many time to can the whole process and mix everything with an analog mixer to tape. ( yes, I'm old, and have been told, can be a bit 'crotchety') I guess I will continue to have to keep the checking account in tow as I plunder through. Thanks again for the links to the 'for profit' videos as I guess I will become another contributor. Thanks once more for your time and effort!

The whole month of November they have a 50% off all videos at www.groove3.com. You can buy and download Sonar X2 explained. The fundamentals are the same in X2 and X3. The video X2 is cheaper so that you could also buy the X3 new features and get up to speed with that too. The downloaded videos are also in your account to view online so that you can watch the videos on a laptop and have your computer free to run Sonar and as you said try everything as it comes along.
