PCR 500 edirol connect to Zoom RT 223 via midi

Hi,

I'm very unfamiliar with MIDI but maybe - just maybe - someone could help me out.

I have a PCR 500 which is connected to my PC via USB. I also have a Zoom RT223 (drummachine) with only MIDI in. How can I use my keyboard to make a Zoom RT 223 sound in a DAWsoftware such as Sonar LE?

I've tried to follow the instructions but it is like totally understandable for me.

Can someone help me out?

What you'll need is a Audio/MIDI interface for your PC. First you'll need MIDI out. This will then go to the Zooms MIDI input and trigger the sounds.
Then you'll need audio inputs to record the analog output of the drum machine into Sonar.
It's good you have the Keyboard already to play and record MIDI patterns in Sonar.
You then can edit them to perfection and either use the Zoom or a built in soft synth.
LE doesn't come with much in the way of good plug ins, but there are plenty of 3rd party freebee's out there.
An Audio interface is a good investment and the heart of any Computer based recording system. Even the most basic models have MIDI in/out ports.
