March of Mars (orchestral)

And now over to something completely different...

Here is a classical orchestrated "tune" I wrote in -99. This time I used the original arrangement to try to get a realistic orchestral sound with SONAR. We that don´t own our own symphonic orchestra have to do it this way.

I used:
- Dim Pro (with DSF symphonic strings HD)
- Sonatina symphonic orchestra (a great free softsynth! Should work with DimPro but I didn't understand how to so I used SFZ)
- Roland JV-2080 racksynth (had some some complementary sounds there for brass and strings)
- 4 takes (vln 1+2) with my violin to get a more realistic sound on the strings

Go listening and feel free to comment!

Outstanding, and a shining example for us who aspire to write orchestral music.  I really loved this, and I don't usually love classical.  The melodies and counter-melodies were well conceived, and the performances sound beautiful and natural.  It does not sound "programmed" at all to me, although I admit I'm not an expert on classical music.  Really great!!

Fantastic piece - it begs to be used in a movie! In fact, it reminds me of those classic soundtracks of some of the 80s adventure movies. For example the Goonies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWluEIx7mkI

Cclarry & Cabbitt: Thank you for your kind words!

3dmus: I love film music, and I remember thinking of John Williams style when writing this piece. Goonies is nice. I've always been impressed by the film music of Disneys 40-50s classic films. Everything that happens on the screen is hearable in the music. =)
