How do I implement a patch change.

I'm at a loss on how to implement a patch change to my Clavinova CVP-103.

Using SONAR X2 Studio, I can insert a patch change and see it in the events list.  This works but I'm restricted to the 100 or more voices on the list.

The Clavinova has many additional voices.  The reference manual has pages of voices defining parameters of each voice: this table shows 4 columns labeled "Voice Name", "MSB #", "LSB #", & "Program Change #".
I pick the voice I want, in this case: "Fireworks", 64, 0, 115.

How do I use this data to implement the patch change?

What you need is an Instrument Definition file for your hardware synth. This will list all the patches and the way to access them.  http://faq.yamaha.com/us/...amaha_midi_instruments

OK, thanks.  This looks like a great start.  The page you sent me to refers to Pro Audio 9, so the instructions weren't precise.  I'm going to Edit->Preferences->Instruments in X2 and trying to get the appropriate file I unzipped linked up.  Still not there yet, but undoubtedly due to the fact that I'm on my 4th glass of bourbon since messing with this problem.  I may not get this resolved by tonight, and, in fact, am losing my ambition.   But thanks for the input.

Really the way its done in X2 is the same way its done in Pro Audio. Plus the Manual will explain it as will the Help file.

tbaroni - if you want additional hand-holding on this topic, Karl has a chapter on this topic in his very thorough Sonar X2 tutorial.

It's still available in the Cakewalk Store at: http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=30-SASX2.00-20E

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.
