This new $49 upgrade, what is it an upgrade for?

Got this in the email today. It's not clear what this is an upgrade for. I have X2 Producer, can I upgrade to X3 with this:

    The $49 upgrade is the basic version of X3 NOT X3 Producer. The X2 Producer to X3 Producer upgrade is $149 here compare it to the basic X3 upgrade here. Information about the three versions of X3 here

    Ideally X2 Producer is to be upgraded to X3 Producer (149/=).
     
    Going to X3 (basic).. is like downgrading (losing Pro Channel and one or two other features).

    Not sure of your current application use, but Melodyne Essentials and Addictive Drums(full set).
    makes it a very nice package.
