MCU (1st Gen), with Behringer BCR 2000, DX11 Controller, Into Motu Micro Lite 5 Midi I / O Sonar X3, Master Fader Jitter
I am hoping to save someone still using MIDI a major headache. I'm really broke since doing 20 and in a blink, sandwiched between a stopped car in front of me, and a car behind me hitting me at 60 mph. I've been fortunate to still be able to walk, and play guitar. My C drive crashed in January, and I couldn't re-install Sonar 7 PE, so I found one unopened box for $99.00 and I installed & registered. Late in March I got a letter from the President, and for another $99.00, got X2. I found a mint MCU for $325 locally, and a friend gave me a Yamaha DX11 (as a controller), and I also obtained a Beheringer BCR 2000 to run soft synths, & Plugins. I have a Motu Micro Lite that has 5 midi in / outs into USB. I had a problem with the Master Fader moving up and down. Even if I moved fade 9 up, it would drop back down, and jitter 1/8 inch movements. I added a stereo bus, mapped the MCU Master to it, and still had fader chatter. I fought this problem since I put the studio together, and I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, changing the order of the midi ports and anything else I could think of. I thought that each midi port was isolated, but neh neh. In my quest for knowledge, I found something that Mackie doesn't provide, but a very nice guy posted -The complete midi map of the MCU, with Color Categorized Groups. Here's the search key words I used - mackie mcu midi map.
I changed the midi channel 9 on all the other devices to another channel and it fixed the issue! So in theory 5 midi ports should provide 80 separate midi channels, but not in practice. I wish I knew the gentleman's name so I could thank hi for his hard work. It my be Rob Bowers?
