Novation Bass Station locks up X2

As some of you may remember, I recently bought a Focusrite 18i20 audio interface.  It came with some free Focusrite plugins, and also the Novation Bass Station synth.
 
I was curious if any of you have tried the Bass Station.  I got it installed, but when I go to open the GUI...it locks up Sonar to the point of having to close it and reopen.  I get the "white screen" and then it's locked up.
 
I don't even know if it's worth messing with....but if it's decent software I wouldn't mind getting it to work...since it was a freebie.

I will double check the installer again....I only have the 64 bit ver of Sonar installed...and I usually pay attention to which ver I install of other things because of it....but is definitely something to check.

How do you keep that computer up to snuff on Windows maintenance?

Sorry to hear about the trouble with BassStation.  BassStation most certainly works with both 32 and 64 bit versions of Sonar, so I would suggest contacting Novation support here: http://us.novationmusic.com/answerbase/contact
 
In regards to the registration, while product registration is done through our website, all of the plugin activations have an offline activation mode that you will allow you to activate the plugins on a computer that is not connected to the internet.
 

I've used that same version of Bass Station (18i6) in X2a x64 - no issues to speak of.   My DAW is completely offline so I did what Matt described.   It's very specific in what it does, but I think it sounds decent.

Sorry I've let this thread get buried for several days.  I just tried the Bass Station in X3 and it does the same thing.  It adds the synth just fine, but as soon as I try to open the GUI it white screens Sonar and locks up.
 
I can't even do the offline activation since the plugin will not even open up.  I found the instructions for offline activation that Matt referred to, so once I get it to open I can register it.
 
I just contacted Novation via their contact page to try to find out what is going on with my install.  I downloaded the install directly from the Focusrite site from within my account.

Strange, do you have X-Ray enabled?
Edit > Preferences (advanced) > Customization > "Enable X-Ray"
 
What happens when you un-tick that? Same results?

Also just tried uninstalling....and reinstalling JUST the 64 bit.  Still does the same thing.
 
Guess I'll wait to hear back from Focutrite / Novation.

Well...I just tried again and uninstalled all of the Bass Station.  Then reinstalled JUST the 64 bit parts again.
 
Even re-downloaded the install file from Focusrite website.
 
Still doing the same thing.  I have some kind of conflict going on with the synth somehow.

I won't hijack the thread but was interested in the X-Ray comment.  Sweetwater advised me to disable it, but I went against their advice.  I use it all the time with the T-Bar on the V-Studio and it is awesome to fade out a VI to look at a score, or to fade Melodyne to do some work without closing the plug in window.
 
 
Edit: I went against their advice only after confirming that I could not correlate X-Ray off or on to any bug we were trying to resolve.

Strange,  I downloaded the synth and put it in demo mode and everything seems to be working fine on my end. I haven't experienced a crash yet. I even loaded it into SONAR X2 Producer and haven't had any issues.  Does it happen in brand new projects. Also, are you using any control surface apps?

I have tried adding the synth to current projects....and new projects both.  Same results either way.  I have no control surface apps.
 
It's really strange.  When I add the synth to a project, it's seems to add fine.  I can even open up a PRV of the midi track created by the synth, add notes in the PRV and it will show activity on the meters on the midi track...of course the audio track is blank and there is no sound since there is no preset loaded (at least that is what I assume).
 
But as soon as I double click on the synth icon to open up the GUI....I get the white screen and the pop-up box stating that Sonar has quit working.  I have never even gotten far enough for it to ask for activation (or demo mode).

hmm... There isn't a way to launch it as a standalone? A lot of my stuff needed to be opened standalone for registration. Maybe it's crashing Sonar because it's trying to register and getting confused.

I don't know of a way to open it up stand alone....it is just dll files as far as I can tell.  I too am aware that some software does have to be authorized while running stand alone, but I don't think that is the case with Bass Station...there is no executable file for it.

At the moment I am still using my Echo Mia stereo sound card.  I recently purchased a Focusrite 18i20 but I want to rewire my system to properly use it which I just haven't gotten around to doing yet.
 
I have a MOTU MTP AV USB that drives my external keyboards.  I am not in the studio right now...but I will try turning off the MOTU so that the midi interface driver is not loaded and try running the Bass Station plugin.
 
Thanks again for your continued support and help with this.  As of yet I haven't heard back from Novation.  I am curious as to what they say.

I know this is an older thread that I started a few weeks ago....but I have been in contact with Novation support via email....and have tried several things which they suggested.
 
I even downloaded and installed Reaper to see if the problem still happened....which it did.  It acted the same way as it does in Sonar X2 and X3....gets a white transparent screen and states that Sonar / Reaper has stopped working and will now close.
 
I finally give up...since I have more than enough soft synths to do what I need to do.  Myself and maybe one other (via tech support) seems to be isolated incidental problems with Novation Bass Station 2.0 .
 
I am more than happy to have received the Focusrite plugins for free as a bonus with my 18i20 interface....so not being able to use Bass Station is really not a problem.

I have never found a solution to getting Bass Station to work on my system.  It doesn't work with X2 or X3.  I even (reluctantly) installed Reaper as per Novation support to see if it would run.  Did the same thing in Reaper.  Locked up the software (white screen) and said it (Reaper) would need to close...same thing that happens in Sonar.
 
Do you by chance have an Nvidia video card?  I have the GTX 560 Ti .

This seems to be a system specific issue, as I know of several people running BassStation with Sonar X 1, 2, and 3 on Windows 7 and 8 systems.  This being said, in order to help resolve this, please submit a support request via this link:
