I agree. You can install both a 32-bit and a 64-bit Sonar. For projects that rely on 32-bit plugs, you can either try them out in x64, and swap out any plugs that are problematic, OR for those projects you could work with them in 32-bit Sonar, where BitBridge would not even be used.
I made a deliberate choice that for new projects moving forward, I would strive to only use 64-bit plugins, and 32-bit plugs that I had found to work properly in a 64-bit environment.
What I did was to create a sub-folder within my 32-bit folder for all plugins, and into that folder went 32-bit plugs that seem to work OK in 64-bit Sonar. Then, I add only the sub-folder to my search path for plugins in the 64-bit Sonar, so I never even see any 32-bit plugs that are not known to work properly in 64-bit Sonar. Since that sub-folder lives inside the 32-bit folder already being scanned for the 32-bit Sonar, it automatically also picks up those plugins, making them available for use in the 32-bit Sonar without having to do any extra specification of path. (it picks up sub-folders automatically).
So, this gives me full access to all my 32-bit plugins in 32-bit Sonar, and restricts 32-bit plugin access in 64-bit Sonar to only those 32-bit plugs that I KNOW work in 64-bit Sonar.
I hope that made any sense.
