Vs-20 driver crashes computer

i purchased a vs-20- first problem, the disc would not read, so no Guitar Tracks. I then went to use it with Sonar X1, downloaded drivers, but blue screen crash when opening Sonar. Tried uninstalling and re-installing numerous times. Some times crashed when plugging in usb during install. One time managed to get installed and showed up in preferences for Sonar, but crashed when accepting preferences change.
Drivers will not install in safe mode.
Every crash, install, and re-install means rebooting, so this has been a lengthy procedure with no success. I originally was set up for two screens with a hub and driver, but disconnected to troubleshoot the problem.
Any suggestions? Please?
