Resolution of recorded automation

When I record track automation I noticed that Sonar captures every single little movement of the fader, but when pushing STOP it somehow up-scales the automation to something smoother with fewer points (i.e. the automation lane contains much fewer points than drawn while recording)...

However, I can't find the switch where I tell Sonar to keep all the fine-scale automation information. Where is it hiding?

Automation is quantized, which is necessary for VST plugins. But the default of 50ms is a fine-enough granularity for most things . However, you can adjust it with the AutomationDecimationMSec variable in aud.ini.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

That's what I was looking for, but it doesn't appear in the manual anymore ...
