Need urgent help with dropout problem with Sonar 7

I use Sonar 7 to play my backing tracks at my gigs. When I say "tracks", they aren't even really tracks, they are just one mono track of audio with another midi track of program changes for my guitar rig, all cued up on a playlist set. I have been successfully running these on a 10-year-old laptop with no issues. I bought a new laptop installed Sonar 7 (in compatibility mode) and now the same tracks, for no apparent reason are dropping out with no warning. The computer will play 2,3,4, etc songs in a row with no issue and then even with the CPU meter hovering at 1%, for no apparent reason, the system just stops. I've tried changing all buffer and latency settings and nothing solves the problem.
 
The new computer is running Windows 7 Service Pack 1   Intel B960@ 2.2O GHz, 4 GB of RAM, 64 bit
I use an Alesis IO ASIO external USB sound card.
 
I saw there was another post with a similar problem. I thought it might have something to do with it being an older version of Sonar not working well with Windows 7?

    It is highly possible that Sonar 7 is not stable on W7 64 bit. 
    Thinking over what you are doing, I would consider purchasing the cheapest version of X series Sonar. That will solve the upgrade problem. 
    Have you followed the usual stuff for tweaking a laptop? DPCLAT etc?

    No, to the tweaking. I had an in-depth tweaking procedure for all my XP-based computers, but I haven't upgraded in 10+ years so I'm out of the loop. Is there a site, or to-do list I can try to optimize my Windows 7 Laptop?
     
    The computer will play 10-20 minutes of songs with no problem, (CPU about 1% and Harddisk about 1%) and then out of nowhere everything will DROPOUT for no apparent reason.

    Generally Win7 does not need tweaking like XP. One of the better threads about tweaking Win7 on this forum http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2488818

    I downloaded DPC Latency Checker. Although saying everything was fine at first, it then gave me a message that some of my system drivers might behave badly and I should disable/enable drivers one at a time to see which ones might be misbehaving. Problem with that is, this problem is happening so infrequently it could take forever to run a playlist set for however long it takes. I just ran a playlist set for about 45 min and it ran perfectly but then the 10th song, for no reason dropped out. I've replayed every song that has dropped out and they all played just fine, so it's not the song, it's something in the system.

    I just downloaded and ran that and it says I need to fix my CPU throttling and update my BIOS. Proceeding with that now.

    I've changed my power options to "always on" and cpu management to always 100%, and saved it as a Custom Power Scheme, but Window keeps returning to the default setting with every reboot. Also, by BIOS does not seem to allow me to change any CPU throttling settings. At this point I'm stumped.

    From what I can tell, the is no way to turn off CPU Throttling in my BIOS. I read that some laptops just aren't made for audio streaming. I'm shocked that a new laptop can't play a playlist set of song that only consist of a single mono audio track, but a 10+ year old laptop handles it just fine.
