Cubase 7.5 Coming Dec. 4, 2013

For those of us who have or are thinking about Cubase, 7.5 is coming on Dec. 4.

I bought Cubase 6.5 in July, which gave me an auto-update to 7.0, followed by 6 - yep, count 'em - 6 updates to 7.0.6.

Now 7.5 is out in just a few days - gotta like that!

No pricing structure that I can see as of yet, though.

But one cool feature that I see already is that if you start a recording and just don't like how it's going, you just hit record again, and it starts a new recording back where you started from - including pre-roll & count in settings.

Before, you had to stop it, hit delete, & then hit record again.

Not no more!

..................................................................................
If that's not enough, never mind touch surfaces - check this out!

Controlling Cubase just with hand gestures! Are you f'n kidding me?

I'm gonna keep my eye on this one for sure! Just might have to try it one day - hopefully sooner than later.

There are lot of very useful new features...

They've also given a Tape Emulator, ala Sonar...

    Yes, I see that -
    • Magneto 2: Adding warmth to your tracks. Seems like they've brought it back after removing it.

They probably didn't want to compete with themselves over their own Tape Emu VST...
But when Sonar put one in that probably felt compelled to add it back in....

nah, I think the main players go thru fads ..e.g. the black / white FET stuff a while back...

was a bit miffed at their marketing..got an email, saying to upgrade as the price was going up... so I did.. then see an email "if you activated 7 on 15th oct onward you get 7.5 free"... I bought it on the 8th, so the charge will be £40.. which I think is another case of "off" marketing..

hopefully they will offer something nice in the update besides the update.. e.g. retrologe / padshop...

tape emu's are fine.. but... I bought u-he satin, so not overly bothered about tape emu's

Yeah - I also have one - the Waves Kramer Tape, Tubes & Transistors.

What would be ideal is if they did the same integration with Melodyne as Cake & Presonus did.

    Now THAT would be ideal.

handy when you hire the ex-staff of a certain well known notation software... and YEP I hope it crushes the rival that was so quick to dump the staff.

Plus the editing options are now added/available in the notation mode/screen. You can edit directly right there if you like, and not have to go in & out of the MIDI key editor if you don't want to.

Or did I just expand on what you've said already?

To me the most intriguing new features are the enhancements to instrument tracks.  The details are a little sketchy, but I think there may be a lot of potential there.  I'm awaiting details with considerable anticipation.

Avid fired the whole Sibelius team in London to rebuild them in Ukraine.   Steinberg quickly hired the whole team to create a new notation app.

Ahh - very interesting. Reminds me of how the 2 designers of Presonus Studio One were previously employed by Steinberg with Cubase, [IIRC].

Kind of like sport teams trading players.

I must admit that among the enhancements & additions, what caught my eye the most is the 'Re-record' that I mentioned above. What a convenient time saver that is, not to mention doing away with 3-4 mouse or keyboard clicks. I know that that may be the least valuable of all new features, but I just think that's very cool.

Seems like the upgrade price may be 49.00 Euros - not completely sure just yet though.

Ok, so for those of us interested in this, the upgrade price from Q7 is $49.99 USD.

I believe it's also 49.99 Euros as well, so this price match is cool because at par, it means paying just $49.99 instead of $68.12, which is what the currency conversion would make it.

    Gonna go for it!

Now if only I could get logged on to pay for it.

My guess is that the servers are quite busy.  But no hurry - try again tomorrow.

    Cheers Buds!

Late Edit: Even better for us Canadians - $49.99 CAD at http://www.steinbergcanada.ca/

Nice to see it at par & not have to pay that extra dose of exchange rate to the US dollar that we almost always have to do.

    Thanks Steinberg!

Yes, I'm thinking I'm gonna like that one quite a bit as well.
It will be so very handy to just show the few tracks we're currently working on and have the rest hidden at any time, saving countless zoom in & outs and scrolling maneuvers.
That means I can leave the tracks at my favorite zoom size, and just move the rest out of the tracks out of the way until needed again.

    Too cool!

I like having my MIDI tracks large so that I can use the 'Edit In Place' feature without having to enlarge it or even go to the Key Editor Screen Page if I just want a quick little edit right there. :)

Paid for & got my downloads today. :) :)

2 downloads - one for Cubase 7.5 & another big-ass one for Halion Sonic SE 2.

Track versions are way cool, a much deeper function than it first seems. Groove Agent SE is very nice - the full version is going to be a beast. Lots of (undocumented) gui tweaks. This is a very nice (and cheap) update.

    You're in an amazing state.

    So stay there.

Do you need to use an inspector in track view to see your fx inserts and sends or are they visible in each track header as with SONAR?

Mike, there is an "Audio Inserts" button that opens the FX Bin for VST insertion...
In the Mixer view you can do the same, press the "Inserst" button and it expands to
    expose the FX inserts...

I think I see the buttons in the screen shots. Does that mean that you can't see them on all your tracks at one time in track view or can you leave them all open all the time if you wish?

You can leave them open on the track if you so desire...and as you change tracks
    you will see them...

In the Mixer you can also leave them open and see them on each track...across the top of the mixer
    by default...

    Mike,

There is not an FX bin in the track view in Cubase...
Either you view them in the Cubase equivalent of the Inspector,
or in the Mix Console View...just to clarify...
