Weird added frequency?

I am using Music Creator 6 32bit on a Windows 7 Machine with Zeta+ 2 (as a VST plugin, also 32bit) and the M-Audio Oxygen 25 MIDI Controller.

All of these things function well together. I went to generate a sine wave for a sub-bass track in a song and noticed when I hit the key, I hear the low frequency and an added one. The key hit should just be the frequency of the note, because it is a sine wave. But I am getting a high frequency as well up above like 14k? I tried eliminating the controller, playing around with some inputs, and I figured out that if I just use the controller with ZETA and generate a sine wave, the frequency goes away. So I figured out the problem must be coming from Music Creator?

Has anyone else had this problem before?

Does anyone know hos to remedy this?

Thanks in advance!!

    no, I don't use Zeta.

My question would be, what Audio soundcard / interface are you using?

Strange sounds and such would need to be generated in the audio circuits somehow.   Does this sound happen in other synths or just Zeta?

Have you recorded the midi that seems to generate it in Zeta? When you play it back do you still hear it? If so, have you tried a BOUNCE to TRACK to see if the sound follows the bounced clip? THese experiments can possibly help to narrow it down as to where it's coming from.

Also, your MC6 template may have another synth (ie: Sound Center) that is picking up your controller input.
Mute the Z3ta track. Do you still hear the sound when you hit some keys?
Do you have any open mics that might be generating feedback?
This wouldn't be a factor when using the stand-alone Z3ta, but could certainly come into play with MC6 open.

Thanks so much for the advice!

My driver mode is MME 32 bit. My playback device is Realtek High Definition sound card and my Recording device is the microphone in my computer, though its not actually on(enabled but volume turned down). Should I use ASIO??

When I make a generated sine wave, mute the zeta track, and press a key the sound does not go through. Does that mean the problem is with the VST plugin format?

I also tried turning off the midi controller and using the piano roll to add and play notes, but the unwanted frequency still comes through.

I then tried bouncing the midi to a new track, just a new track (the default when you select bounce) and the sound still comes through.

    Any new ideas?

No you probably don;t want to use ASIO with a realtec. Probably wouldn't work anyway.

Of course, the way you are recording isn't idea. Especially using a factory card with synths and midi..... MME generally has bad latency with that setup. The internal mic could very well be the source of the issue.

Since the sound comes through on the bounce, that means it not a spurious noise. It is actually being recorded to the track. Any number of things could be causing it. Feedback, some sort of issue in the sound card/driver mode, or something else entirely.

Since you are new here, let me ask you a few questions.

Are you considering getting into home recording as a relatively serious hobby or possibly as a career musician?

Some folks are just dabbling and others are musicians who play and want to record at home. The reason I ask, is, if you are anywhere close to being serious about home recording for fun or profit, I would suggest an investment in a few things.

    1. A decent audio/midi interface which runs native ASIO and has phantom power and connects with USB.
    2. A decent condenser mic
    3. A pair of inexpensive but decent powered studio monitors
    4. A basic pair of headphones.

That is the beginnings to a decent home studio. A nice interface eliminates the feedback issue, also eliminates the MME/latency and midi issues, and external speakers moves the speakers out of the computer as does the mic.

Before I close  could you post the track with the offending noise to soundclick or soundcloud so we can hear what you are hearing? Doing that may help us to pinpoint the issue.   Also any screen shots of your setup preferences for the inputs and outputs to those tracks would be useful as well.
