Mic modeler woes. Where's the vst? Solved!

I don't seem to be able to get this up and running. It is activated in my ilok and installed but I can't find any vst dll anywhere.

This is crazy. I never saw a problem like this before.

GP...you have to be careful when installing some of these...

They will, by default create a "C:\program files\Steinberg\vstplugins" directory if you didn't specify during the install
where you wanted it to go.

I make sure I use C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VSTPlugins as my directory of choice...

Just check to see where it installed and add that path to your Plugin Manager scan directories...

Hope that helps..

It's the installer. It does not give me an option of where to install the VST files so it does not install them.

I uninstalled my Avox Evo and reinstalled it. That installer gave me the option of where to install the VSTs. It appears to be the same installer for both but one works and the other does not.

I ended up getting it from Audio deluxe, the license hasn't arrived yet. Not sure if it's a VST2 or 3 effect yet. You may want to check C:/Program files/Common files VST 3 folder. Another thing to consider is to right click and run the installer as administrator. I'll let you know if I figure it out when my license arrives.

That's where it is Grant. Thank you. I did not know about that folder.

Is this plug in JUST VST3? When I downloaded it, it said it was VST 2.4 as well. I don't have X3 yet.

It's thanks to Grant for pointing me in the right direction. It installed, again, as a VST 2 and was in the "common files" folder.

Can VST dll files be moved to folders you want rather than scattered everywhere?

Should have both VST 2 and 3 I assume, still waiting on mine.  Yes you can create custom folders and add them to the VST scan list to avoid all that clutter. I'm going to try that here too

I take it you found it in the C:/ common files VST2 folder ? I can confirm the VST 3 version crashes X3 100% of the time, the VST 2 64 bit is working well.

My understanding is that the bakers are aware of this problem. Can't recall where I read it.

The Antares tech that I've been dealing with on this problem advises they are aware of the VST3 problem and "working on it".

Thanks guys, not really an issue here since the VST 2 64 bit version is working well, I can wait.

The Antares tech said the VST2 works exactly like the VST3.  Based on that, the VST3 isn't really needed.

Thanks again Jack, no advantage of VST 3 on that one then, happy to have the VST 2 64 bit working well and acquired for less than $40.

I just used it on some clean tracks recorded direct. Amp sims did not give me the sound I was after so I tried the mic mod. Nice! I don't care for the tube thing though or, I just haven't found a use for it.
