MP3

Hi
First post. I'm using Sonar 7 and am adept at editing midifile for which I have an extensive list of songs. I also have a list of MP3s which I bought from Ameritz and Karaoke Version but I can't figure out how to get any of them into Sonar to edit them. I have these MP3s saved in My Documents (using XP) under a file called Downloads, but when I open that file in Sonar, it's blank! In Properties, it says the files are 'Orphans', whatever that means. I'm normally good at figuring things out for myself but this has me perplexed. Any help would be welcome.
Thanks

Sonar works with Wave files. They are imported easily by drag and drop to a track, or using the "import audio" option.  Can't remember if Sonar 7 supported MP3 import but it might be the files are a none supported format of MP3. If it doesn't work then I would open the MP3 in Wave Lab or Audacity and do a "Save as" to a standard Wave, then import to Sonar. Wave Lab will batch convert the whole folder.

Very often the MP3s contain metadata, pictures and whatever, that SONAR can not handle. Going via Audacity or similar, as suggested above, removes that load.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
