Imported audio plays back at higher pitch

Hi all

I'm currently having a problem with X3 where when I import (or preview) an audio file it plays back at a higher pitch than the original, even though the sample rates seem to match (at least, according to the format tag).

The interesting thing is that if I load the sample into Audacity first, and then export it, it plays back in Sonar at its normal speed.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

This is probably caused by two pieces of software trying to control your Audio Interface, where 1 is calling for playback at 44.1 and the other at 48 kHz. When the pitch is higher, it is because the faster sample rate is winning. Your project is probably at 44.1, but your interface is putting it out as if it were recorded at 48, so it is playing more of the samples per second than it should.

Double check that your interface matches the bit depth of your Sonar project.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Yeah - it does sound like a sample rate mismatch.  Check settings in Sonar and for your interface.
