Axiom 25 MIDI Controller

Consider me as stupid.

I need non ambiguous instructions on how to get the axiom 25 to work with some of the synths.
I have looked at all the videos on youtube. Including the ones from cakewalk.
I hav set up the act device as "ACT MIDI controller" And as "M-Audio Axiom 25 (preset 1)" in the surface configuration.
But all it can do is pitch wheel and modwheel. and of course the keyboard notes.
The 8 pads seem to play low notes. The buttons and knobs do nothing.
I want to have it so I can do stuff in Rapture and dimention Pro and Z3ta+classic. etc.
I know about the learn mode, but do I have to do that for each synth?
And if so then what do I map the knobs and pads to? Don't leave the choices up to me. Tell me what you have your axiom 25 mapped to for rapture and or Z3ta and Dimention Pro.
Wouldn't each synth preset need its own mapping?

Yes and they remember their mapping based on the synth with the focus. It is also possible to lock an act controller to a single synth. Play with it a little. It is kinda cool.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
