UPGRADE SONAR X1 TO X3
Hi . I am a little bit confuse regarding the upgrade price. As I understand I should pay $199 upgrade fee to jump from x1 to x3 but when I logan to my account at top of the page under shopping card and change region, it says 1 products $149. I am just wondering how much I should pay to get the upgrade from x1 to x3. Regards Reza

I had X1 Producer Expanded and upgraded to X3 Producer for $149. So $149 is the correct price for the upgrade. You'll love it!

Thanks for replaying I do have the x1 producer that came with my vs700 and didn't add anything to make it expanded. is the x1 producer same as expanded? how can I know it is expanded? and if I buy the upgrade for $149 and doesn't work on my version, it means It would be useless and I waste my money?

I am quite confused. Here are the upgrade prices, which I JUST NOW copied to paste in here: SONAR X3 Producer Download: Site Price
Upgrade from SONAR X2 Producer $149.00 Upgrade from any SONAR Producer $199.00 Upgrade from any SONAR Studio $299.00 Upgrade from any other SONAR $399.00 Upgrade for any registered customer $449.00 It looks to me like they want $199 to upgrade from X1, or any other prior Sonar Producer version, not $149. I am not sure if you select the upgrade from X2 that it will allow you to install, since you are coming from X1. I do not have any awareness of what checks and balances are in place, if any, where it would either allow or deny an upgrade from X1 using an upgrade that is explicitly supposed to be coming from X2. Seems to me that the original price quoted is the Studio upgrade not Producer.

Make sense but as you see in the first reply leadfood already bought it for $149 and installed it on x1 expanded and if his works so problem solved but I don't know how can I check my version if it is expanded or not.

It's been a while since I upgraded to X1 expanded, but I think there was an addition of pro channel modules that wasn't in the non expanded version.

When I upgraded from X1 to X3, the price was $199. And from what I remember, the difference between Producer and Expanded was, as rebel007 said above, extra ProChannel stuff. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head and none of the comparison charts say anything about it (I was looking at them recently for an unrelated reason and Expanded isn't mentioned).

I continued to look for info on the 'expanded' upgrade, and found this little blurb from some web review of it: "SONAR X1's optional Expanded pack ($49), new for 2012, is a mixed bag. You get a new Softube Saturation Knob for any track, plus access to optional expander and compressor modules (which, unfortunately, also cost extra). You also get modularity—meaning you can add or subtract modules on each channel, plus in-place scrolling, which lets you scroll the strip vertically while leaving the console in place. "

Reza, I'm sorry. I looked at my order history on Sweetwater, and I did indeed pay $199. Sorry for the mix up.

My guess would be that your price would indeed be $199 since you never upgraded your X1 to Expanded. When I first purchased X1 they ran a special within a couple of weeks offering the Expanded upgrade for $10, which I did. I would contact customer support about this just to make sure on your price. I would hate to pay the $149 and then it not work.

I concur - well worth the phone call to confirm the price - they open at 1 PM EST today. That's what I was getting at, as well. I would hate to see you order it for $149 and not be able to install it (again I do not know if that would be the case, but if it were, it would be an expensive lesson). Go ahead and call for confirmation. Bob Bone

Your upgrade price from SONAR X1 Producer will be $199 regardless if it's regular or expanded. Hope that helps.

Thanks everybody for sharing your information with me. I emailed to cakewalk customer service and here is the answer: "The X3 upgrade pricing has remained the same since the day of release. The $149 X3 Producer option is available for customers who have SONAR X2 Producer. There is the option of upgrading to SONAR X3 Studio for $99 for any registered customer. " Now I am not lost about the price which is $199 for jumping from x1 producer to x3 producer. Thanks again
