Toontrack NY vol 3
It's been out for awhile.... touted as the best SDX available. I have NY 1 and 2. Do I "need" 3? I don't have a bunch of other expansions either. Listening to demos, the NY stuff is pretty much what I'm looking for. The Roots, Jazz, etc expansion, I don't think I'd use that much...or the weirder stuff... But I DO have the EZX Electronic. It's pretty cool to blend in for rhythm instrument replacement. I like BIG rooms, BIG toms, NICE natural room sounds. That's why I like Superior so much. BTW...and NOT as a plug...if someone asks: "what kind of music do you do?"....check my sig below for an idea. If you listen to the first little bit of any song, you'll get an idea.

Like the tracks a lot! I use Superior myself. I find myself using NY 1 & 2 more than anything. But, I really like and use The Classic and the Nashville kits a lot. The Nashville is a great all around kit. Not just good for country but fits well in just about anything but fusion. And it does have a great brush kit as well. The Classic includes a 4 mic setup that is very reminiscent of the 60's, 70's era along with the individual miced kit as well. With the ability to load individual drums from one kit into another with X-drum feature I can do just about anything I need. I use Latin Percussion a lot, too. The only one left that I have any experience with is the Jazz kit. It is a great sounding kit for old school but I find it a little bit cramping for any modern jazz styles. My votes: NY 1, NY 2, Classic, Nashville, and the Latin Percussion are pretty indispensable to me. I am looking closely at the Vintage kit when a sale goes on.

Sidroe...have you had a listen to NY vol3? The Nashville SDX seems good which I don't have either, but I'd think I'd get the NY3 if I had a choice.

NY3 is one I don't have either so interested in other people's comments on this and The Rock Warehouse. One I do have which I use far more than I ever imagined is Roots - I picked this up in one of the sales and the quality of this set (sticks and brushes) is fabulous. I find myself using this for other types of music than intended with great results - however probably not suited to your type of music. I think one that would be suited to your type of music is Music City. Cheers Nigel

Yes, I have checked out NY3. I just picked up Nashville a couple of years ago when I first bought Superior. I'm in the south and you can't throw a rock without hitting 100 country music fans, 5,000 Alan Jackson wannabees, etc. LOL! The Nashville kit fits pretty well in everything I have done country-wise. Myself, I'm not a huge country fan whatsoever. I will probably end up getting NY3 when I have some extra cash laying around. I use NY1 and 2 and Latin Percussion mostly. I'm not hearing much difference between the kit pieces in most all of these kits. I mean nothing that couldn't be mimiced by adjusting the tuning or eq or envelope. Most tracks I work on are replaced by a real drummer anyway. BTW, I am looking forward to messing about with AD. I've been playing around with it since upgrading to X3. The only Adpak I'm interested in there is the Black Velvet.

Send me a drum project and I'll plug NY3 into your project. You can see (hear?) for yourself. Tom

Tom, that sounds like a fantastic offer. Should I just send the session file with the MIDI embedded? I'm not setup with something like a FTP server for larger files..like sending the audio folder too. What do you need and/or recommend?

Just the .cwp file with the midi, it can include whatever routing you use for your drums. I can upload the "frozen" audio tracks so you can import them into the project... T

Tom, I sent you a PM, but my 2.38 mb .cwp file wouldn't attach, due to the file formats supported in the PM. I sent you my email address as well. THANKS!
