Freeze won't work in Sonar X3c or d

When I elect the freeze option after recording a track - Sonar does NOTHING.  It just sits there. What can I do?

explain your process in a numbered manner so we can repeat it on our own machines.

What track are you trying to freeze and where is it pointing to? What synth is involved?

    Need mo info...

You are not selecting all appropriate tracks that need to be selected . That's all... what you select depends on what kind of track it is, MIDI, audio or Instrument.

As no one else has reported that freeze doesn't work in X3c and X3d (and it certainly works on my system), this has got to be a pilot error issue. However you need to provide more info about what you're trying to do and how you're trying to do it, so we can understand what you're doing wrong.

If Sonar just sits there and does nothing, it's potentially pilot error e.g. improper routing or confusion from large track count (different MIDI track feeding soft synth than the one you're trying to freeze ... hey, these things happen with all the track clones that sometimes become zombies ...)

So, we do need more info ...

Anyway, I do have occasional strange issues with freezing not working properly: if I use Kontakt 5 with multiple synths and Abbey Road drums (i.e. 30+ outs feeding audio tracks), I click the freeze button, get the progress indicator going and can watch the audio file being generated in the audio directory - BUT - when it's done, it rolls back to no freeze without any message at all (and all the frozen audio files disappear again from the audio directory) ... strange, and most definitely a Kontakt issue as none of the other synth show anything like that ... I wonder if someone else has seen that / fixed that?

I just froze a B4 track without issue. Works like expected here so far.

In a multi-timbral situation if you freeze one instrument at a time, does the same thing happen?

    Hi Craig,
I have no clue how to do this. Pls explain. When using K5 with multiple synths in the rack, I have not figured out how to freeze one instrument at a time (if I use the freeze button on the MIDI/audio track it does the same as using the freeze buttn on the synth i.e. freeze everything in the K5 rack), but that would be a very helpful feature ...

    Cheers

The only time I ever had an issue with freeze in the past that matched the op's symptoms was when my processor was running too hot with the stock fan which is why I got a Noctua cooling fan for my cpu. The cooling fan took care of that issue.

The issue with Kontakt happens when you hit Freeze on a MIDI track, but works fine when you do it on an audio track, that gave me some grief a few months back before I figured it out.
