Cinestrings or Cinematicstrings2 - opinions please

Hi Guys

Does anyone have any opinion on which is better, cinestrings or cinematic strings 2. It's time for me to upgrade from Gattitan and these two appeal because of budget and the fact they run on the Kontakt free player (no full version of Kontakt required).

All opinions and ideas welcome.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all Cake forum members a very merry and safe Christmas and prosperous new year ahead.

Cheers

Cheers,
Phil

I have neither of these (have tried the free Monster Staccato patch from Cinematic Strings and I own a few Cinesamples libraries), but to my ears Cinestrings sounds better, more organic. Cinesamples libraries are of good quality. But if you're on a budget I would recommend checking Eastwest's Hollywood Strings Gold (which is on sale at the moment and even though I'm not a fan of their PLAY engine). http://www.soundsonline.com/Hollywood-Strings

And don't forget LASS Lite: http://audiobro.com/la-sc...-scoring-strings-lite/

Thanks Kuusniemi, that gives me even more to think about - Hollywood strings @ 50% off is pretty enticing though I had heard that these and LASS are both hard to use. Decisions decisions...........

I've heard that too, but everyone of my colleagues who use Hollywood Strings can't stop raving about them. Me, I'm yet to jump on that bandwagon since I'm really comfortable with the Spitfire Audio Albion range and Vienna Symphonic Library stuff... :)

But remember, that all these libraries sound a bit different. Think about what you want. For example why I use a combination of Spitfire and Vienna is that Spitfire as a really nice warm natural sound to them while the Vienna stuff is recorded really dry and with in to fill the details. So do you like your instruments to sound awesome straight out of the box or do you mind learning a bit more? If you like it good straight out of the box then go with Cinestrings (what I have from Cinesamples requires very little tweaking) but if you don't mind a bit of work then go with Hollywood Strings, as it's one of the most complete libraries you have. Then again if you're just going to use basic sustains, legatos and staccatos then Hollywood Strings might a bit overkill. :) But pricewise at the moment Hollywood Strings is the best deal of the lot...

Thank you Kuusniemi, your input has been fantastic and exactly what I needed :)

I decided to go with Hollywood Strings diamond edition on an external USB3 drive - at under $500 Australian it was a no brainer! Without your heads up I would not have even looked at EW as I presumed they were simply out of my budget.

    Thanks again,
