Stupid Focusrite 2i2 Question ...
Okay, this may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find the answer in the PDF manual or anywhere else on the net. So, here I am troubling the recording gods high on Mount Cakewalk. This is my question: is the Focusrite Safire 2i2's out from the back stereo or dual mono. I know the outs on the Steinberg Ur22 are mono (except for the headphone jack) and I was wondering if it's the same on 2i2.
If I purchase it, I'll be using it to monitor my mixes (hence the need for stereo) as well as record vocals and the occasional guitar or bass parts. My needs are very simple. Everything I do is in the box except the voxes. Hell, do I even need an audio interface or could I get buy with my old analog mic pre with some kind of XLR or quarter inch to USB adapter cable into the PC? Maybe monitor through the included soundcard? It supposedly has WaveaMaxx Pro sound quality. Or, is that just some marketing code for over bassed lows not a flat response.
The setup I'm used to working with is the EMU 0404 PCI card and the Presonus Tubpre. Loved that combo. I'm trying not to go any lower than that sound quality or performance wise.
Any info you could share would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
