If I upgrade to Sonar X3 Studio-how do I keep using Dim Pro/Rapture from Sonar X2 Producer

I have just reformatted my PC and am thinking of upgrading to Sonar X3 Studio.
Would like to also use the full Dim Pro and Rapture versions I had with Sonar Producer X2.

Do I have to have both Sonar Producer 2 and the new Sonar Studio X3 installed to do this?

Has been awhile since I used Sonar.
Thanks.

Yes. You can keep your current versions of Dim Pro and Rapture as long as you keep X2 on your machine. Just download the files for X3 . There's nothing wrong with keeping previous versions of Sonar side by side on your machine. In fact if you like Rmix and V-Vocal you'll want to keep X2 so you can use them in X3. Also the V64 limiter which I really like and still use.

    Thanks for the fast reply.
So I need to have the full X2 installed.

Any compelling reason to have X3 Producer over X3 Studio??

well you don't.. but it's handy to have it just in case..

with regard to x3, didn't upgrade yet... but well there is a comparison chart on here no doubt..

the number of fx for start are normally more... but things like tape sim, I have u-he satin.. so it's one less thing that interests me in that respect.

Just to be sure I am clear- I cannot somehow just install Dim Pro and Rapture as plug ins only without having X2 installed also?

You don't have to have the full version of X2 installed but it really won't hurt anything to keep it. I have both. in fact I bought a new computer and installed both X2 and X3 on it.

Nothing compelling really... X3 Producer has a few more goodies but besides that I just wanted the flagship version.

Sure you can. DimPro has a separate installer. Rapture can be installed using the advanced install option in X2. You might also want to install R-Mix as it is only available in X2 Producer. The only plug-ins that require a minimum install of X2 are V-Vocal and the PC modules.

Thanks for the info. You guys are very helpful.
Think I will grab the X3 Studio version with the $20 off promotion.
