Can't Record Midi after editing Piano Roll?

I have a Midi problem.  I'm using Sonar X1 on Win 7.

I recorded a Midi track but want to redo the ending of the song.  I edited the Midi track in the piano roll, as far as I know that was the last thing I touched before I recorded the last midi track.

When I went to re-record the ending, I found I was not able to record the Midi track. I tried creating a new Midi track, but I cannot record on that track either.

I can arm the track.  I can see the midi notes being played in the Audio Meter while I am recording.  But when I record the track, the Midi notes are not saved.  Any ideas why I cannot successfully record the midi notes?

Are you hitting R to start recording or clicking the Record button in the Control Bar in addition to arming the track? Sorry, but I have to ask because the last user to report this problem was hitting Spacebar which is just Play.

I am hitting 'R'. I am arming other audio tracks at the same time and those record correctly. I am an experienced Sonar user.

I started a new project and was able to record midi tracks. So the problem is only with the project I referred to.

I also previously applied Quantize to the track. I am using Session Drummer to hear the track, but only for the old midi notes that I cannot add to.

I just can't get the software to record the Midi signal that I can see registering in the audio meter.

Have you got any Punch Points set anywhere in the project?
This will prevent recording until the Punch In location is reached on the timeline

Bristol,

Yes, I think that might have done it.  I hadn't intended to set any punch points, but after I turned off the "Auto Punch Toggle" I was able to record a midi track on that project.

The strange thing is, I was able to record Audio on other tracks at the same time I tried to record the Midi notes, and also, the 'Set Punch Points to Selection' was also off.

But it is working now in any event.    Thanks a ton!!
