Mac upgrade and Logic X. I'd like to buy an acoustic guitar and a nylon string guitar. That's it. If anything else, it'll be hardware. You know, it's been months since I've bothered to even check for upgrades for my plug-ins. My Waves WUP ran out and I don't care. I didn't even bother to install the free plug-in they gave for Thanksgiving. The other day I was moving stuff to my new external HD, thinking that some of those would probably require re-authorization (like the IK libraries) and I'm not sure I'll even bother. Some other things like Dimension Pro and Rapture were on their last leg - the minute I upgrade Logic or move to a new Mac, I can't re-install or use them. I have yet to verify whether or not I was affected by the iLok upgrade which took place months ago and whether my iLok plug-ins still work. One of my iLok keys isn't even connected to the hub. And maybe because it's been so long, but it suddenly seems like so much of a hassle to keep up with all that stuff - especially considering how little I use most of it. So I'm doing the opposite - getting rid of as much as possible. I've already converted a lot of my favorite sample libraries to Logic's sampler's format and I intend on keeping that course. Besides that, use only the bundled stuff as much as possible. Or hardware.

bluzdog The ARC 2 upgrade will be my first purchase @ $75 I feel it's a sound investment.
Well yeah ... duh! Oh wait ... I guess you meant "prudent" investment.
Lol...I just pulled the trigger (not the Slate Digital one) on ARC 2. That was easy the Babyface and Tone Beast will have to wait awhile. Rocky

Bapu - what - no lava lamp? I've got them all over the place - even two in my office! They have a great way of calming you and keeping you from choking people. :) We need a Lava Lamp VST - something where the Lava would undulate to the music like an iTunes visualizer... THEN you would have it! lol My new monitors were right at the end of 2013, so 2014 is a clean slate! For me, I was dithering on the Waves API or SSL and went with the API, which was the right decision for my music. Of course, I STILL want the SSL so I see that in my future. First up is to sell a bunch of stuff on eBay and KVR (hoping they are up again soon!).

Just got a Macbook at the end of the year. Debating on Logic X. Let me know what you think of it if you do pull the trigger.

I bought the Komplete 9 update last month. I haven't bothered to install it yet. All I really wanted was the latest Kontakt playback engine and to take a look see at Battery 4, but it can wait till I'm really bored with my new microphones.

That's what I'm afraid of ;) but at least there are very reasonable 3rd party content for the times when G.A.S. prices are just too high

In 2014? nothing I hope.....well I guess I already broke that with a purchase. Jan 2, 2014 bought Ableton Live 9 Suite upgrade. Waiting on my deliveries of my xmas hardware purchases. Emu Proteus 2 Roland Fantom XR Roland D550 My MOTU Mach 3 should show up today. my SSD 120gb OS drive is screaming and getting full. Might have to pull the trigger and upgrade hard drives, maybe throw 32gb ram into the box. but that's it, no more purchases for 2014, I gotta learn all this crap. yep, no purchases...... there might be Spectronsonics doing something this year, Camel Audio might release Alchemy 2, there is IK Sampletank 3........yep NO NEW Purchases. that's it. I have GAS, I admit it <<hangs head in shame>>

Mike, I just rolled back to Kontakt 5.2 from 5.3. I can't confirm it but I'm having problems with it releasing samples from memory. I hear there might be issues with 5.3 using PT too.

I'd like to find a way to purchase directly from Fender Japan (does anyone on the forum live in Japan?) and get a new 57 or 58 dead solid perfect reissue of an Olympic White Strat. Yum. As to plugins...Im actually so well covered they're going to have to come up with something uber-game-changing to hook me. I hardly bought anything during the entire Black Friday through New Years Day sales. Imagine that!! Libraries...anything interesting, usable and not overly expensive.

well I had considered buying a Gibson hummingbird Pro but was delighted to get it as a Christmas present a few days before the holiday! At any rate I might have to shell out 25 bucks for the stupid tutorials for the stupid izotone bundle which I purchased and has just about useless documentation.
it is strange however at my age when I receive any of the big fat musical gear catalogs.... As a kid I would spend hours going through them, usually had one by the toilet. Now it's rare I ever see anything I want. Luckily the guys at cakewalk can usually figure out some sort of cool junk to add to sonar so I buy that every year... WSS

I am another of those in the camp of needing to learn to use what I already have. For me, probably just K10, maybe a Sonar update, and a few Hide-a-sun libraries.

Thinking of NIs K9U..... since I skipped it, having already purchased the unique parts during 2012-2013 to add to K8U, K10U might just be the high ticket item for me this year. Since my son-in-law works for Line 6 there may be a doo-dad or two from them or Yamaha I might consider. Like others have said, I've got enough tools to keep me busy learning until Star Date 3164.2 noamimsayin?

I'm rebuilding / extending my studio and building a "proper" control room so I can have a better mixing environment. So my moneys going on that - the only real equipment items I want (money allowing) are new monitors - so I'm saving desperately for some Focals which come highly recommended - anyone use Focals?? They better be good as they are expensive!!! Nigel

I just watched that Jack Jospeh Puig vid where he said he {paraphrased} finds it difficult to recommend a go to set of monitors. His best advice was to listen to many monitors and pick the ones that feel right to you.

Well, rig's done... Loads of new tools bought over the several months rig was down... interface... may upgrade from PreSonus 44VSL to Forte, which seems too good to ignore Albion 3 Iceni... I want this soooo bad. Perfect for emotional social/climate change music X3.... lots to learn... Mostly I'm going to be able to devote 2-3 days/week to songwriting for the first time as I'm reducing my workload so I can follow my dream... learning all the tools I already have to convey messages facilitating change...that's my plan going forward!

Bapu Yes I know listening to lots of different monitors would be the ideal way to select some, but living on a smallish Island with a couple suppliers who do not hold a massive selection of stock, somewhat limits your choice!! So normally I have to rely on good recommendations from friends / acquaintances in the business etc. Mostly I'm going to be able to devote 2-3 days/week to songwriting for the first time as I'm reducing my workload so I can follow my dream... learning all the tools I already have to convey messages facilitating change...that's my plan going forward! jimusicI've decided not to buy anything musical anymore, and start using what I already have. I really do have enough of everything. I've said this to myself so many times this past few months. (sigh) jimusicI may even sell off some stuff, as I have caught myself impulse buying in the past, only to not even use some stuff afterwards. If you decide to sell off any nearfields, please post. The ones I have on loan will be returned soon and I have my wife about half-convinced I actually need some... along with room treatment and a bunch of other stuff, but first things first. Eye on the target and all that. Seriously, the shipping charges would probably kill me, so maybe it's not a great idea. Forget I said anything. (sigh)
