Edit single song from live recording
What is the best method or work flow to Edit a single song from an hour long live recording? Is there an easy way to set up FX, busing, etc. for the whole hour long set and then chop out the individual songs to be be tweaked further?

Another way of putting it would be: is there any way to set up all the FX, busing, channel settings, etc. and save to a new project with just one song selected (with all the settings)? It might be called: "Save New Project from Selection".

I use markers to denote the songs, then use marker view to move to the markers and use F9 and F10 (Sonar 7) to make the selection and export each song individually. Not sure what the shortcut keys are in X series.

I split and drag each song to a track of its own and name the track by the song. Then I add on the Master Bus the FX that are common to all songs, and if some song needs FX of its own, I put that in the track FX bin. Then I export track at a time ( if you export all in one go using "tracks" as source, all the exported songs are as long as the longest one in the project).
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I'm trying to split out a whole new multi-track project for each song. I'm not sure that's what you are referring to. I know how to export mixes of regions, etc. I guess I could set up the whole hour and then automate the changes for each song, but some of them require quite different treatment. I found an older post where the person who posted would save the project to a new fileneame (the name of the song perhaps), split the tracks at the beginning and end, and then delete the parts outside of the song, sliding the song start to the beginning with "delete hole".

My bad. I'm in the wrong ballpark. I've never had more than two stems in the live recording.

I figured out I can either setup everything for the whole set and automated the changed for each individual song, use markers to just export the mix of each song separately, etc. OR after setting up the common parameters for the whole set, set markers for each song, save the whole project to a new file with the name of the song and delete everything before and after that song, saving again to end up with just the one song as a single project. Do this for each song and you have a separate file for each one. As I mentioned before, it would be great to have a "Save Selected to New Project" feature which would save all tracks selected between the From and Thru Markers to a new project, complete with all parameters set, or even have options (like audio export) to pick which parameters are saved with the new project. I record many projects with SAW Studio to later be mixed in Sonar and SAW has a similar feature to export the selected region as a new project.
