Training videos

Hi
I'm tracking songs right now and mixing is getting closer so i'm looking for a good training video. I found this one on Groove 3 http://www.groove3.com/str/mixing-with-sonar.html    What l like about this one is that the tutorials are all made using Sonar X1  but because my songs are ''metal'' i  don't know if should try to find something more related to the kind of music that i make....

Any thoughts? Any suggestions?

Thanks...by the way  i love this forum.....

The Groove3 Sonar X3 videos are very thorough and easy to understand. You shouldn't really need tutorial videos based on the genre being demonstrated, ones which show how to use the software's features are much more helpful.

But there's also nothing wrong with having both, or as many tutorial videos as you need.

You might also check some of the Sound on Sound articles. They'll augment the Groove3 stuff and perhaps give you some insight into any specific techniques for metal although from what I've read there and in Mike Senior's book, "Mixing Secrets for the Small Studio," the main difference between genres isn't so much technique as it is reference tracks.

Find a few tracks by artists in your genre, tracks you think are similar to what you're trying for in a given track you're working on, and keep them handy for back-and-forth comparisons to (forgive the pun) keep you on track.
