How's my singing on this? (explicit content)

Hi guys!

So this track is not mixed or even fully recorded yet, but I was curious about how my singing is on this? I think I'm a really bad singer but it has worked out sometimes even though I thought it was crap so I need to know your opinion on this.

It's named "test" and can be found on the link below. The singing is on the chorus and start at 1:04. It's 5 tracks and dubbed but I guess you should be able to hear if it sounds terrible or not :P

Really appreciate your feedback.

Not sure about the singing, but you have tons of digital 'overs' in the track, especially the chorus. Lots of pops and clicks going on. You need to watch your master bus levels, I'm guessing they're slamming into the red.

I agree on the clicks, this is a bummer. the singing is obviously not your strength, maybe a female sung chorus would sound better (but what the heck do I know about hip hop!) on the other side, it is not that bad and stands out, therefore recognizeable. like outkast / the whole world, a little bit:

Never mind the pops and clicks, that's not how it sounds in the DAW or how it will sound when the song is finished.

I'm just curious if the singing is okay?

Standing out I like and that's what I'm aiming for but I don't want the singing to sound all terrible. "not that bad" sounds pretty bad while "would be fine" sounds like I could go with it. I can of course try and improve it but ye I'm no good singer.

I like it, I think it suits the song. Watch your tuning, I think that's what you need to improve, in order to make it work. There were spots in the song that I really liked your voice, go with it and maybe with a bit of practice (and maybe melodyne) you can make it happen.

Agreed. There's potential in there, you just need to work on the tuning. What's comes across in the track is that YOU like your voice, and that's what the majority of listeners in this genre go for. It's about the attitude really, not the bum notes which like rebel007 points out,can be fixed anyway...
Keep going with it,look forward to hearing some more !

Well I hear rap - snap- clap (sounds like a new cereal) keep the rap, eliminate the snaps, lower the claps and fire the mixer, and give the singer a raise.
On a serious note, mixing has been my biggest challenge and still is so instead of giving advice I would definitely consider the advice you get from this forum. I can't say enough for these guys and help I've received. If this is a mix of numerous tracks, try playing the percussion track only, then one at a time add another track adjusting for its vol, timing, etc and how it brings out your style. If not so much, tone it down or eliminate, and lay it on when it sounds and feels right. If you hit a flat spot on the voice, delete that spot and dub in on a separate track, that's my guitar trick.  Now, remember this is coming from a bone head amateur who can't rap or sing. SO you can listen to one of my tunes and get me back.
